Dad came home Thursday night, and has had a 3 day weekend to enjoy with us. It has been so hot so we mostly stay inside and play, eat, nap, and I TRY to keep up with my cleaning routine :). Yesterday we went for a long walk at the Newport News Park and saw lots of turtles, fish, ducks and squirrels, and of course we saw more deer up close--this time some bucks too. It was so hot, but we tried to keep them in the shade and hydrated.
Today we picked up lots of groceries, and I got the ingredients to make granny's spaghetti today, which is an all-day event. While the pork chops & meatballs simmered in the sauce, I took the babies outside in the front in their little pool to play while John enthusiastically watched the FIFA world cup. He wasn't happy USA lost.
Then we enjoyed the spaghetti with delicious meatballs I made with half turkey, half beef. The pork chops were nice and tender too. We both couldn't stop from getting seconds and thirds...It is such a nice break to have Daddy home to help, but to also enjoy our family. We are excited to take our 4th of July trip next weekend, and we are down another month. :)
Here are some pictures from today, Olivia is wearing a new top I forgot we were given from Shawna--it's so cute on her!
And then Lucas woke up from his nap to a little surprise---this Toy Story patio set was $30! He loves sitting at his own big boy table to eat. Olivia enjoyed it too!
Then we had dinner---Lucas really like the meatballs in the sauce!

I just can't get over how different your kids look! Olivia has changed so much and of course Lucas is cute as ever! :) I love her shirt and I am glad she got a chance to wear it!!! :)
soooo cute.
good job with the speg. sauce. great granny will be proud of you. told her today that you and johnny prayed together for her..she started crying.
shawna-- thanks! I am glad I remembered the cute top before she got to big for it. I am about ready to buy her a bra! lol. I was looking for those pics of Jim you wanted, and I was looking at how young Alex looked back 2 years ago when we started GN and didn't have any Hodge babies yet. He looked so much more like a baby--and he has grown so tall already! When susan is home I will check out your FB to see some new pics of the seago boys---will get to the jim pics tonight. thanks again!
Louise-thank you! I loved the pics of them together at that table--like they are having a heavy discussion over tea lol. i have to say, this time the spaghetti was better than before! my least favorite part is mixing the meatballs by hand, but it is more thorough. And we are getting ready for church now, I know Johnny and I will be thinking of granny, but you know we will have our hands full with these demon babies who hate church now :) We hope she comes home soon, and fully recovered. :)
I LOVE this table! I want one too! Eddie loves to take his food and plop down on the floor to eat. I was just thinking, I should get him a little table and chair.
Look! And you put both of them in it! HOW CUTE!!!!! Glad that dad is home. You are doing so good, even cooking up a delicious all day meal! It sounds so good, I wanted some too :D
iris- yes the kid table and chair worked out well! It goes along with your video of teaching kids to graze with the little snack buffet/tray.
Thanks for the mommy/wife support. John is helping a lot so I know it will be a shock again to be left alone, but time is actually going by quick.
And that spaghetti was good--all gone now! no more leftover wasted food lol. But lets hope i didn't gain back the weight i lost lol.
