Vacation Bible Study

Janice's daughter Jill, who taught the class :)
Since we have been in TX, we have been going to St. Bernadette's church. We really like it. The church functions by all the volunteer work of the parish, including the nursery! So I took a VIRTUS class and have volunteered in the nursery, bringing Lucas and/or Olivia along too--which is great for them because it's like a playdate. Well, the nursery is for babies up to 2 1/2 so it was time for Lucas to move on to Vacation Bible Study! It was so cool to get to see Lucas interact with older kids in a school-like setting, and also peek in and see Olivia loving playing with other babies. Plus Janice the lady who runs it all is so wonderful and L + O love her---Olivia is so stingy with hugs and kisses, but not with Janice!

There was an older boy crying for his mommy (felt bad for him..I was a crier too...up until my senior yr lol) but Lucas focused on his puzzles, and coloring, and when they gave him a plate of pink playdough, he looked at it thinking "well, it's on a plate, guess it's snack time" and he bit it! He started to figure out when he looked around, that it was a toy. He didn't sit still during storytime, but he liked the "red light green light" activity. Then they used their fingerprints to make these little bumble bees--he didn't know what his thumb was when they asked--he was the youngest in the class. Then they watched a veggietales movie--you can bet he sat still during that! And even when he spied me spying on him, he smiled and said "mama!" but stayed put. I was proud and excited to see him getting ready for real school :)

Didn't get many pics because I didn't want to interfere or offend if people didn't want their kids in pictures. But I am very happy with his first day and look forward to him learning more from hanging with the older kids at church :)
