John's parents drove out to visit and drop off our dogs. They drove nonstop for over 30 hours...and neurotic Shmoopy panted and whined the whole time! Tyrone is good in the car. I'm grateful for John's parents having taken them in for over a year so we could figure out what we were doing. (are we still figuring that out!? idk) And for them driving with them all the way out here, so we wouldn't have to fly them. Stan & Louise are staying at a suite down the street, and we have a few things planned together for the week, which is great because John has the 5 next days off :)
Here we are visiting their room--they were exhausted from their drive.
They got them new towels for the pool :)
And here's father & son talking about, what else...where we're going to eat!
Then I had to figure out how to incorporate these dogs to our new apartment regimen...I'm still trying. It's hard not to have a yard to let them out in. I have fenced in a little area for them to eat and drink without babies, and I try to coordinate their bathroom breaks with the babies' naps. And I've picked up so much poop of theirs already, that I can see us running out of our target bags pretty soon...AND i've noticed, almost everyone I know in our huge apartment community, has a dog...I have not seen ONE person pick up their dog's poop, or even have bags on them. It's disgusting. I don't know if it's a law and you'll be arrested like in CA, but the apartment lease definitely expects you to. It's so gross to see and smell the piles of dog poop in this humid heat.
Dog-cordoned (?) off area. To protect the babies' meals from the dogs, and the dogs from the babies!
All our babies---this is very typical: Tyrone's a real dog, licking himself..Shmoopy thinks he's a real boy :0
They picked their spots.
Shmoopy wanting to join bath time.
I didn't know Tyrone was such a Spongebob fan.
Anyway, the dogs still pull a lot on their leashes and Tyrone often escapes and it's real hard to get him to come back. And he can be aggressive and defensive when other dogs (or people) are around. So there's no way I can take them out with the babies on my own as of now. We really HAVE to get a house with a yard early next year! Plus they bark at every little thing, waking the babies up. I hope we can all get into some kind of daily groove and co-exist.
