We just took our first trip to the nearby dog park. It's very well designed with a small dog area and a big dog area, a hose to clean them, double gates on the entrance and exits, and paths, seats, trees, and water fountains their size. John and I were too busy to take good pictures or video, but overall they did a lot better than expected.
At first, Tyrone was barking at every other dog and we took a frustrating and leashed walk around the baseball field. I tried to train Tyrone to wait and walk with me instead of yanking and hopping all the way. He got a little better and focused on walking instead of everything and everyone around. Then we went inside the park and Olivia got jumped on by another small dog and she screamed for a while but was okay. I walked Tyrone on the leash around the path and he did well so I let him go. Shmoopy and Tyrone were in heaven! They got along with the other 2 small dogs, and LOVED when John threw the tennis balls. They got good exercise and so did we. The babies loved watching it all too. But we all smell like dog-owners now lol. I wish I could do this when John's at work but it was barely manageable to take care of all 4 with John. I hope regular trips to the dog park will help both Shmoopy & Tyrone's issues.
