Trailer Park Boys

We switched to DirecTV a few months ago, and still aren't totally familiar with the channels yet. John was looking for a certain channel and landed on an exclusively direcTV channel called "101" (one oh one) and it played this show we had never heard of called "Trailer Park Boys." At first we thought it was a local broadcast program of some bad actors. But the more we watched, the funnier it got! It's so subtle it's genius. We researched it and found it's a Canadian cult classic. The characters are just too accurate. And they only appear in character on shows/interviews, perpetuating the confusion on whether they are actors.
The show is about 2 guys in and out of jail for their idiotic misdeeds, and the adventures of their trailer park. It's endearing because the characters all really care about each other, however ignorant they are. You can tell a lot of work went into the set, the clothes, and hair styles to make it an authentic believable 1990's-era trailer park. It's full of bad language for those of you who don't like that, but the comedy is real smart. I noticed a girl in the show looked like Ellen Page (of "Juno")and it is, so I realized the show was probably bigger than I thought.

This character Ricky is one of the most believable and accurate stereotypes of a white male in a trailer park. You can see him working at Walmart. I can say that because my sister and actually my brother, and my husband, and my husband's aunt have worked there (they are all exceptions to the rule regarding Walmart ogre/ignoramouses). Anyway, he always misuses phrases in an attempt to sound smart--don't we all know people like that? He says "denial and error" and "supply and command". One of the funniest was "hey save me some of that sweet empowered chicken." It takes a lot for me to laugh out loud at stuff. They succeeded.

Everyone's favorite character is probably Bubbles. He's so cool. That actor is devoted!

you gotta be quick to catch them...i like "he passed with flying carpets" and "it must be flame retarded."
This blooper clip is freakin hilarious-know'm sayin?

I have only seen a few episodes, but they always have a few things in every episode. Julian always has a glass of alcohol in his hand, even driving. Even coming out of a tumbled car accident. Ricky always gets shot (usually by himself). The trailer park 'bottle kids' always throw beer bottles at something. And I think someone always makes comments on Randy's 'cheeseburger' gut. Hope you all enjoy. Thanks to John for finding this gem. :)

This is one of the best shows on TB anywhere in years! It's got a dedicated following and fan base, and a podcast dedicated to it that started right after the show ended to keep the whole machine running: www.trailerpodboys.neozaz.com
