My sister Susan has a facebook--my mom was over and they decided to look for people my mom knew growing up. She found a couple boyfriends from high school. One of them was really into music and specifically glam rock. He evidentally told my mom he would someday change his name to 'David Brighton' and become a rock star. Well, in a way he has. He is the most famous David Bowie impersonator, with regular gigs on the Vegas strip. He has even performed with David Bowie, opened for Elton John and Devo! He sounds a lot like Bowie, and we think has had some work done to look more like him. Pretty cool that he set out to do it, and did! Check him out:

Here he is---they sound really good!
Here are 2 promo sites for his act:

He played with Quiet Riot and portrayed George Harrison for broadway's Beatlemania. This week we are supposed to be getting all of our family photos shipped to us--there are pictures of him from high school. I distinctly remember one black and white photo of a dude holding a comic book, and I never knew who it was. Once we get them, I will post it on here.
My parents were pretty cool; my dad played keyboards with Dick Dale's band when he was in Hawaii. He didn't have any pictures to prove it though. I can't wait to get the pictures of him from all his other bands he played around the country. I never paid attention to them as a kid, thinking every kid's parent was like that. Wish he were here to tell me all the details.I vaguely remember him talking about playing gigs where competing bands would watch and they would try to cover their guitar playing with a towel so they couldn't be copied or something lol.
And then of course my parents met playing in a band together. Will upload those pictures too. Too bad my mom didn't save any recordings. They were good. Again, as a kid I didn't think it was anything special that my parents worked gigs on the weekends in a band. I even sang with them a few times as a kid (I should be embarassed that the songs were "Any Man of Mine" by Shania Twain and "Blue" by Leann Rimes right?).

What did your parents do?
