Poor Lucas

I took Lucas to his new pediatrician today because he hadn't gotten over his cold, and was drooling...I just got antibiotics for a throat infection yesterday, so I thought he might have one too.

I LOVE Lucas' new doctor. He was such a nice guy and very respectful and funny. Lucas liked him too, except when he had to swab his tonsils for strep of course. He tested positive! I felt so bad that he hadn't been eating as much and was drooling because it hurt so bad to swallow. This confirms to me, that the nurse that did my strep test yesterday did it wrong...I didn't know why she swabbed my tongue instead of my tonsils, but at least the dr prescribed me amoxicillin anyway. I am feeling much better and I believe Lucas is too--he has had a couple doses so far.

Other than that, I asked the doctor about Lucas speech. He said Lucas speaks well. He says 3 yrs old is not when you worry about speech therapy--Lucas is cognitively thinking and forming sentences, understands questions and is attempting words the best he can. His articulation will get better on it's own, but shouldn't worry me until 4 yrs. I was relieved to hear this. He says to work with him at home, but don't be hard on him because its too early and Lucas is fine. :)

I noticed in this hour that I took him alone to the doctor (even despite his strep!) he was very talkative and interactive with me about the animal trains on the wall etc. He is very smart. And it's a relief that his articulation problems will most likely resolve themselves over the next year. I even had him tell the doctor what animals he saw on the train --and he said "attabator!" lol.

We also talked about Lucas' uncircumcised penis. He says he thinks it's a purely cosmetic procedure available to those who want it, but not necessary. He did say that we will have to work on pulling it back a little each bathtime, but never to the point where it hurts, just gradually so that over the next few years it will retract easily.

I am so pleased I went to this DR and Lucas really enjoyed it too. :)
Here is a picture of Lucas singing "RANGO! RANGO!" at the dr:

Unfortunately, although my strep is clearing up, I came home and started hallucinating. Just little sparks or wiggly lights in my eyes. I sensed possibly a migraine, but I haven't really had one since high school. I laid down for a while but the pain in my left temple got stronger and into my neck. I eventually felt a little better and we followed through on our promise to take the kids to this nature center in the area to see the snakes. I felt fine during the visit, but upon leaving the migraine came back with nausea....I didn't get to go to my spin class tonight because no medicine would work and I slept 3 hrs to try to feel better...my headache is still there in my right side. Hope this doesn't last through tomorrow...SO glad John was home and took care of all of us! I wish I could figure out what brings them on...I didn't eat breakfast this morning because I had my blood checked to measure my cholesterol. But I ate normal when I got home. I hope we all feel better soon so we can get back into the gym and playdates and Easter stuff etc..
