Susan G Komen-Victory!

So we have been at the house the past 2 days, but I have been wanting to post about this....my friend Jenny knows me so well she texted me this AM at 7:30 asking why I hadn't blogged about it yet lol. She knows me too well :)

So Susan G Komen, a breast cancer foundation established in the 80's, has long funded the evil abortion industry leader, Planned Parenthood...supposedly on the grounds that they offer mammograms and testing for cancer....first of all, Planned Parenthood does not have the capability to do mammograms or testing; all they do is refer you to a place that can. Secondly, associating yourself with a company that benefits from murdering babies, no matter how much good they might do, is inexcusable to begin with. Why give money to such a controversial business, who's intent is NOT to decrease the amount of abortions, but increase? And at taxpayer's expense? There is no definitive data to ascertain whether or not abortions are related to breast cancer, but there is certainly speculation about it--so why give money to them?

It really bothered me because people who don't really look into it, may have seen the Susan G Komen foundation as a good cause to give money to, or buy their sponsored products. And they had many sponsors. I was even so frustrated going to the store seeing pink ribbons on every box or can of food, that I boycotted certain brands for a while. I stopped going to Old Navy and called them to let them know I will no longer buy from them if they give money to SGK, and that they should consider a better breast cancer foundation. I called Boar's Head--my favorite deli meat vendor too.

Well apparently I was not alone. Susan G Komen has pulled their funding of Planned Parenthood! In the 2 days after pulling the funding, Susan G Komen's donations increased by 100%! I am glad to know people care and that when everyone speaks up, we can change things. Now if only we could get the damn government to stop funding abortion!

Any company that gives money to Planned Parenthood should be boycotted--their money (and their consumer's) is going directly toward providing more opportunity to kill babies. Specifically in low-income urban areas across the U.S., rife with black kids getting pregnant over and over.

Anyway, I am happy SGK pulled the PP funding...but they took so long to do so, and only on the basis that they suddenly realized PP can't perform mammograms. But this is how a free society works--the government bureaucracies shouldn't determine which companies survive, or what they do with their money--the market does. We the people hold the companies (and the government) accountable. So do it!

This was all over FB 2 days ago. People were posting things like "Thank you for cutting off funding to cancer screening programs in order to prove you are prolife." I am like "So if a doctor, kills your child on purpose they deserve to stay in business because they have also helped screen many for cancer..." NICE! I knew why you hadn't posted yet. But glad to see you finally got this post up.

Thanks Iris--exactly. I guess that thought is too much for some to handle. I don't know when we are gonna get past the "it's not a baby" argument, but even then, people will always find a way to make it okay. PP also got many private donations after SGK pulled their funding. That is sad, but at least they were from private individuals, not companies/foundations that work under the guise of cancer research.
