Humble Home Progress 7

I took this video Friday night. I wanted to do a walk through video of everything before the new floors started to be installed monday. You can hear Lucas in the beginning whining about the potty---he hates leaving things behind...well, he actually hates leaving period. They both are so excited about going to "the house", he wants to bring everything with him there, and bring it back everytime. Pretty soon we will be renting a Uhaul and putting all our stuff in for good!

I may just be pessimistic, but I am expecting things to go wrong with the flooring installation. I hope it goes well and stays on time. According to their estimations, everything will be done by friday. They have a different team for each material, vinyl, laminate, carpet etc.

Today we went out for a few hours to quickly finish last tasks. We got some of it done...We sanded and painted half and guest bath, and put up the light fixtures..I believe they are secure enough, but the outlet boxes are all uneven and weren't installed to be flush to the wall. Just frustrating when things don't line up perfectly. We were trying to install the bigger light fixture in the master bath, but some screw and hex nuts were missing (found that out after John frustratedly took it out on me!) I hate going back and forth to these stores when they are missing pieces etc..Will have to replace it after floors...at least that bathroom has a lot of light from the window--so the installers can still see what they're doing.

The last task we took on was the game room ceiling fan..it was lot of weird directions that seemed to be loosely translated and confusing. We need to trim the overly long wiring to fit in the flush to ceiling mount position, so we had to put it off til monday or tuesday (the flooring people will only be doing the kitchen/baths/utility then).

We have so many things to buy and do, so I have been obsessed with making lists over and over. Hard for me to stay focused without them. One task that I would like to do and from what I've researched shouldn't be too expensive, is to buy this Wagner spray painter:

and take off all the doors and put a new coat on them in the garage. I also looked up deals to replace all the ugly and dirty brass door knobs throughout the house. The knobs would be ~$160, and the sprayer is only $68. John is also going to work on replacing the actual light switches, and of course the lightswitch covers. I'd say those are the most germy parts of a home.

And the appliances I think we will buy through Best Buy if they do price matching (they have the brands and models we want, but there are some sites with cheaper prices). We also looked into replacing blinds and curtains etc. I didn't realize how expensive 2" faux wood blinds are. Lowes and Home Depot were really expensive and the sizing didn't match up. So I looked around online for a while and this site www.selectblinds.com seem to do great business and do custom sizing fairly cheap. But I think the best deals with the best reviews and customer service, would be JCPenney. So we are going to try them out.

And of course we are taking that trip to Ikea to get a big modular couch for the game room. We decided we wouldn't buy a new TV. We will just have the TV up in the game room, and so the living room will be without one. Which is good because the babies will interact more and we can listen to music and play together without the TV always on. It will also help with bad eating habits I have...I don't watch much, but when John and I do, I have to be eating something!

Gonna call ADT for security system too. The lists are endless, but we are very grateful and excited. Thanks for tuning in!
