John came home on friday, to a very happy Lucas, and a scared Olivia :)
I had been telling Lucas that dada was coming home, but he didn't seem to believe me. Then he looked out the window and laughed an excited and nervous laugh and couldnt' wait to be picked up by dad. Olivia cried the first time he picked her up--but she warmed up to him again quickly. For that first night, she would stare at him with this concentrated/concerned look whenever he would talk, specifically when he would say, "Lucas!" She wasn't used to any men around here, especially ones yelling at her big brother lol.
He had yesterday off so we made the most of it. We went to play at the park, to pumpkinville, shopping, and we went to the 5:30pm saturday vigil instead of going today, since John has duty til Monday afternoon. It was a relief for me to have two extra hands that I didn't feel guilty burdening :) Lucas threw a few little tantrums but nothing big yet. Although last night when daddy was giving them their bath, Lucas was trying to drink the water and apparently swallowed some down the wrong pipe...and threw up a little in the tub..had to quickly get Olivia out, drain the water and clean them off with the showerhead, which terrified both of them...but they're clean!
After a mass that ran a little long, we went to our neighbor's Halloween party across the street. Lucas wore his wall-e costume proudly, but it was pretty dark (it was in their backyard) and it was very cold so we didn't stay long. John had to get up early, and it was already 9:30pm--passed the routine time!
Here's a slideshow of some old, but mostly new pictures:
Unapologetically Cheesy :)
It's very weird to realize we will only be here about another week or so, and unfortunately John has duty on both weekends. We have so much to pack, throw away, and clean before starting our drive ~ November 10th. I have already accepted that this trip will probably not be as easy as last years', but I am sure we will have lots of great pictures to remember this transition. I hope these next 4 months go quickly and smoothly!
