Labor Day Vacation

We decided since John is only home for a few weeks this month, (and then we are basically going to CA when he comes home in November,) that we would take our chance to visit Washington D.C.--we may not live this close (3 hours) from it again. When I learned that all the exhibits are FREE, that just made this trip mandatory! Mom, Susan and Norman went in their car, but ended up getting lost, and not having a good time, so they went home early.

They've been holding hands in the car lately--she laughs so hard at him!



Everyone needs a GPS--we got there in probably 2 1/2 hours easily. The hotel I picked was within walking distance of everything, so it was a bit pricey for how small the rooms were, and there is only valet parking so it was kind of scary to be parked on busy 14th street, and get our stuff into the hotel. The staff was all very professional and friendly and most of all helpful. Not like NYC at all.

Lucas cried at first from all the chaos and people around, but they both ended up really enjoying the hotel room!

Lucas kept whining to get up on the bed, so I was trying to teach him to say "up"...and Olivia thought that was hilarious. When she is really tired, she gets in one of two moods: angry-not-shutting-up-screaming mode, or I'm-on-a-laughing-high mode which thankfully was the one she chose this night:





And of course, we had to continue our tradition of diaper-on-baby-head, and blanket-burrito baby--although Olivia liked both of them! (can't say the same for Lucas on our NC or CA trips...):
