Family Dinner in D.C.

It was kinda late and we were all hungry, so at the recommendation of the hotel concierge, we walked down to right outside the White House, to the oldest restaurant in D.C., The Old Ebbit Grill. It was so busy and filled with people, no doubt some of Obama's staffers...yuck. It was also filled with Boise State fans, in town for the football game against Virginia Tech.

This is the Treasury building-- just outside the White House--see the map--and where the people are standing, is the restaurant, which opened in 1856.

It seemed to be so full of people, I wasn't even going to go and ask how long the wait was...but since it was the only restaurant open this late (~10:30pm) I went in--they immediately gave a us a nice private table right in the front window! The food was pretty good--I had a bowl of vegetable soup and the artichoke spinach dip, John had some good jumbolaya, Susan had a steak salad, Norman had a burger, and mom had her signature pastrami & sauerkraut.---Lucas had "Seasonal Fruit & Fries"--he really liked the figs!

Everyone from Idaho seemed so nice-one guy came over and offered to take a picture of us for me :).

It was a nice walk--and Lucas loved being in the city with all the cars--he was so excited when they'd drive by and all the lights and honking! I'm not a city girl..that stuff makes me nervous :)
