Quick Pregnancy Update 39 wks

I am technically 39 wks tomorrow (saturday) but I went in to the dr today to re-check my blood pressure and to get the results of my 24 hr urine collection, and blood tests. Unfortunately my blood pressure today was even higher- 150/100, and my urine analysis did show 292 for my protein levels which is just at the borderline of 300 for diagnosing pre-eclampsia. My weight had went down 2 lbs, which was probably all water retention. The doctor sent me back to Mary Immaculate Hospital for a 'non-stress test' to monitor my blood pressure as I rested on my left side. It went way down to 126/74 which is great. They want me on strict bedrest again, which is convenient since John's parents are here to take care of me. (John has been on duty and has the commissioning ceremony tomorrow so he won't be back til tomorrow night).

They want me to go back to the hospital for another non-stress test on sunday, and then go back to my doctor on tuesday to see where we will go from there. Induction is a slight possibility, but I am pretty close to term so let's hope it happens naturally.

The mid-wife also checked my cervix and said I am 50% effaced (thinned out) but the baby hasn't descended and she can't quite reach my cervix to check for dialation. I have been feeling some cramps today, so it may happen soon. It just would be so ironic if it happened tomorrow, when John and his parents will all be gone in Norfolk for the commissioning of his ship! My mom, Susan and Norman will be close by if I needed to go anywhere though. So that's all we know for now- just eating, sleeping, bathroom and appointments. Let's hope the next blog is more of a birth announcement!

50% effaced?! WOW!!! That is major progress. I bet $100 that you are starting to dialate. It is weird they can't reach your cervix--in this age I would have thought they have tools for those crooked-high-up-cervix-havin' ladies! What the poop, is Lucas gonna be turtle-heading when they can finally check your dialation?
*excited about the weekend*

I know I thought 50% effaced meant something more, but they seemed casual about it. She said since he hasn't descended my cervix is still far back and to the left side (?) and I thought it may have been because I had a tilted uterus but she said it's already straightened out this far along.
I am sure they could use some kind of tool if necessary, but her hand went up there pretty far and she had me sit on my hands with my feet together to aide in relaxing my pelvis. We'll see what happens-- BUT I did notice last night when I peed (TMI warning) that when I wiped there was what looked like a lot of clear/yellowish mucous but I don't know how to tell if it was my 'plug'. And Lucas was moving around so much last night when I was reading. I hope it happens soon. I wish John were here for this--it feels like I haven't seen him for so long and havent' been able to even talk to him. If something did happen today, he'd probably be the last to know during that big ceremony. but he has tomorrow off (his ONLY day off for a while, unless I go into labor). Well, I am going to get something to eat and then read up more on mucous plugs etc. I hope you're right about this weekend, but more like tomorrow!

How exciting!
I hope all the best for you!

I have never had the pleasure of seeing or noticing the plug come out since I have been induced both pregnancies.

I also am constantly checking my wipes :D I've been doing that since the beginning of this pregnancy. It's a safety measure :D

LOL!

Well, I hope it's soon!

Hmph, turns out my jokingly comment on this post wasn't so wrong. He was practically turtle-heading when they checked you!
