John went back to work yesterday, and unfortunately was thrown right into a fast-cruise. I was told by another Navy wife that he may come back on friday, and then they have another fast-cruise thing on monday through the next friday, so they may just keep them the whole 2 weeks. And of course since they are testing the ship out they aren't allowed any ways of communicating. No phone, no email. He was heartbroken to have to go back to work and leave Lucas especially for so long when Lucas is changing so much everyday.
My sister Susan decided to move in with my mom and norman, so it was just me and lucas last night. I made the mistake of not sleeping when he slept a while from about 4pm to 7:30pm, and he was up about every half hour/hour wanting something until about 6am, when we both got a couple hours sleep. When he wasn't up I was pumping to keep my supply up, and then he would wake up mid-pump. I am hoping this week goes by fast, but it's not going to. We both miss Johnny and Lucas and I haven't stuck to any routine yet. Susan Mom and Norman will be helping throughout the week though--I mainly just need a few more hours in the morning! I keep being reminded of that montage scene in "Look Who's Talking" when Kirstie Alley is sleep deprived and pouring coffee into a bottle!

Oh man! That stinks! I hope tonight goes better for you. Let me know if you need some sleep, I can come over and help you watch him...or if you need anything else! :)
I wish I could be there to help. Raquel was born in mid-summer and I used to appreciate it when Jose's mom would come over just long enough for me to shower and feel refreshed (it was hot and I had no AC). But I never had a husband who had to be away so much, well, not at night, anyways.
There is no secret or trick to doing everything you need to do AND getting enough sleep. You pretty much have to just go through this trying period and make the best of it. Tough it out.
yup--i'm just trying to do one thing at a time, and it's kinda funny because since I have had Lucas, I seem to be doing more cleaning than I did before. I guess it is somewhat of a routine but it was rough getting up so much last night-- he had been waking every 3 hours every other night, but last night he didn't. I think one of the reasons was that I didn't use this swaddle thing that my friend shawna gave me. It was downstairs so I just wrapped him a few times in blankets and i guess it wasn't the same. we'll see how tonight goes.
I think the extra cleaning is the nesting instinct.
yeah...a little late as a sign of 'impending labor!"
hahaha!
