We took the kids rollerskating last week for the first time. I hadn't gone in a long time...so it was just as scary for me. Lucas is very hard to motivate; if he isn't good at something right away, he's angry/sad and cries. He fell a few times and then cried by daddy and swore off skating forever. Olivia held the sides and crawled. It was kinda a waste--except I had fun since we were the ONLY ONES there !! Susan and I will probably go sometime. Not sure if the kids want to try again yet.
This is pretty much how 'school' is too...I am trying to motivate him to want to figure out phonics, because he is way ahead in math, but sounding out words is not his thang. Especially when the English language has so many exceptions like 'silent' letters and the 'sh', 'ch', 'ph' and 'th' sounds. I made up a song yesterday about when letters "marry 'h'", they make a new sound...Olivia started singing it haha. Still grateful to get to homeschool them, and we will keep trying different little field trips to reward their work, but I think pottery painting and jump zones are more their speed for now!
