Anyway, we had a good dinner and bid (and lost) on some auction items. Texas House Representative Giovanni Capriglione emceed the event, and we met him last year when he attended the Bishop's prolife banquet in Fort Worth --here's the pic from last fall, when I was very pregnant with Frankie:
Then this awesome lady that Teresa introduced us to, Kayla, spoke about her non-profit counseling center Pregnancy Help 4U. It was really amazing because they do so much for free, without any government assistance, and just in the few months of 2014, they've already saved 70 babies from being aborted! That's truly God's work--and that's exactly what Mike Huckabee, the keynote speaker iterated. They also had a girl speak about her experience when she and her boyfriend had an unplanned pregnancy, and about all the support and love and continued assistance and friendship she has with the staff, and then they brought out her little newborn baby, just a few weeks old! Very touching.
The banquet was held at the Irving convention center. Just driving there reminded me of when I had regular gigs at NYLO las colinas down the street. I sort of miss is...especially since I gave up playing/listening to music for Lent...I hope to get back into playing live music, but I just might miss my sweet-cheeks too much! I even missed Frankie after we left the house today :PThe dinner was great--especially the dessert. So pretty huh?
The lady in front of me is Kayla, and she runs the pregnancy center--she does some great work!
Tim & Teresa are always so popular at these events; they devote so much time to the pro-life and youth ministries at their church in Fort Worth, and Tim is very active in the Knights of Columbus, which is why he's all dressed up :)
Brother James and my mom. The band played a lot some Christian music and even some U2
I was happy to have some of my side of the family with us.
See Susan? I told my lipgloss is the right shade :P
We are lucky enough to have this wonderful couple be Frankie's godparents. He will be baptized next month, on Mother's Day :)
Rep. Giovanni Capriglione. He was a little nervous emceeing, but it was charming.
Here is the group from Tim & Teresa's parish (Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton):
My crew:
Cell phone pic of Huckabee---didn't want to use my flash on my good camera. He's a nice guy. I voted for him in the 08' primary. I don't think he could win the presidency and John informed me that he is in support of the Common Core crap...but being pro-life trumps all that anyway :) We are holding out for Rand Paul for president...2016 can't come soon enough.
Anyway we didn't win any of the silent auctions, but we gave money to a good cause and I hope to continue to be active in this ministry. I am excited to volunteer at Lifetalk, since it's closer to use than Fort Worth. I know this is something God is calling John and I to pursue. I also get so excited when John talks about us adopting. I already started reading about requirements for different countries, to start preparing for the process. Olivia can't wait to meet her sister, whoever she may be, and wherever she comes from :) All the talk about babies being saved, kept my mind on my little babies at home, in the middle of the storm! I couldn't wait to get home and squeeze my little big boy Frankie..I know I already posted this recently but I just LOVE him!
