Date Night

So John had a few days home and we were able to have a date night last night. We put Lucas to bed around 9pm and left Olivia with our neighbor Stephanie, who had been wanting to babysit her and let us have a 'date night'. I was worried about how the babies would do, since as we were leaving Lucas woke up crying which he NEVER does--but thankfully he went back to sleep and stayed asleep. Olivia actually slept most of the time we were gone too.

We decided to try something new; Susan told us to try this Vietnamese place called 'Saigon Pearl', where one of her co-workers bartends. It was actually very good and cheap! They were very courteous and gave great recommendations from the menu. I had a Vermicelli sampler bowl with shrimp, pork and an egg roll. It was okay, but John's spicy Mongolian beef was so much better!

Before...lol

Asian people like this stuff...I know this because I am asian

Nice molding/lighting

Me and my boring water...

Then we went and sat by the bar where they had a DJ. I think the owner's whole vietnamese family was there--and their cute little kids. Joe the bartender gave me some free concoction that to me was too strong. I don't like to taste the vodka. Actually, the only alcohol I even ever liked was champagne. But I got what was pretty much a virgin bloody mary. And my face still turned red. I can't tolerate alcohol--but I don't care to anyway. John got a little drunk--and he's so funny at the beginning of drinking, but eventually I remember that I hate being around drunk people. :)

The strobe lights did it, not my camera!--but I still like it.

This picture's freaking funny! Is it not?

Happy

This looks a lot more vulgar than it was...just a peck

John getting ready to dance! Not. We don't like what I call "young people music" (i.e. crap like Lady Gaudy and black eyed poos). We'd rather interpretive dance to this.

Didn't even finish it. Was mostly tomato juice anyway.

Bartender Joe, our waitress and some underage worker jk--she was really cute dancing despite the horrid music.

My 'designated driver' face.

But it was a nice night and I think we will probably go back for Karoake when he's around on a Saturday. Of course things are different since we have babies, but it's a good thing to have a date night every now and then and we are lucky to have friends & family to help with that! He left for duty today, and is supposed to be home for a little tomorrow before leaving again for about a week. I think this was one of the longer ones so at least we are through that!

Going out made us feel a little younger again, and it was nice to hear that John could notice I lost weight and that I was happier. Of course, we didn't eat very well that night (and alcohol!? what a waste of calories!) but it was a fun date night and necessary for us to express our love for each other without a screaming baby around.

WE ALSO GOT MY ID RENEWED SO I CAN GO TO THE GYM !!--with how I have been eating with him home, I gotta go to the gym!

You look really pretty in all of these pictures! I can see that you have lost weight too. I think it's always great when couples can get away for a little bit to spend time together. :)
