It's a volunteer-coach sport, so what are you gonna do. But I was a little perturbed that the Tball commissioner didn't do something about Lucas' team for the first month. See, Lucas was on the Gold team, which was supposed to be established in mid august. We never got a call from a coach, but were given a uniform. Every time I emailed the commissioner about it, she said 'don't worry--if I have to coach it I will". Meanwhile, the other 3 teams had weeks to practice and get to know their coach, team, and the game rules. Then a day before the first game (which was yesterday, and a double-header) Lucas is thrown in with the blue team. So he has had no practice with them and is the only one in Gold. If they don't order a blue shirt for him, he will be the only gold in their team picture, which is scheduled for next week....

I know he has a lot of coordination and skill if he is coached on it, but yesterday was a struggle. He is also having a hard time getting over his cold. But I think the bat may have been too heavy for him to swing properly...also the few times I was able to practice with him, I threw the ball to him, and the balls were bigger..oops. So he was unfamiliar with the T. He still had fun but as an overbearing parent, I want him to have as much practice and training and opportunity as the rest of the kids, so I felt short-changed. I hope he can show his skills next time and get him a bat that's not too heavy for him:
This is when he eventually hit the ball (and the tee...) and they let him run.
His first practice is on wednesday. I hope he is over this cold and can focus to get better by saturday!
