Twas about time we visit the ER again.

Well, I thought Lucas was getting better but he wasn't. He played a little in the morning but stayed sick and lethargic, snotty and coughing, while laying down all day. Didn't eat any of his breakfast. John came home from work early today and they all took a nap:
Snoring as loud as a train...he was so exhausted because it's been hard to breathe.

When I woke them up, I felt how hot Lucas was and took his temp --was 101.2. And he looked worse..even after sleeping a few hours, he didn't want to get up...his eyes have been slowly closing all day. Just out of it and in pain. Since it was already 7pm (and besides his doctor didn't think he had bronchitis) we took him to the ER down the street. Although it was a $100 copay, it was a nice new clean facility and we got the peter pan room lol. They also got to watch Shrek 3. Texas has these free-standing 24 hr ERs that are privately owned, so they are very efficient with no wait, and can be located in any little plaza...in this case, next door to our favorite chinese place :)

  Anyway:

They did x-rays and said he has bronchitis, but nothing really bad like pneumonia. He had lots of mucus clogging up his bronchial tubes, but no patches of it in his lungs thankfully. We even got a disc with the x-ray pics! That's the progress you get when you privatize...efficiency.

They gave him a steroid mixture with gatorade to break up all the mucus, and boost his immune system, and prescribed an antibiotic for 5 days. Lucas is feeling better and enjoyed "having his picture taken" (John said he smiled for his xray) so it made that $100 seem like a family night out on the town...well, at least in comparison to waiting hours to see a dr who tells me I'm wrong.

Oh Lucas :( That first picture made me so sad. He looks so sick. Poor little, innocent baby. I am so glad you took care of him. He is so lucky to have you as a mama :)

thanks. it was really sad to see him in such discomfort. Any mom would've felt the need to take him in. I really hope today was the turnaround and his immune system is strengthened. :)
