I don't care.

Obama is suddenly in support of gay marriage.

Image Detail
Yes, it's obviously to garner more votes from gays (which by the way, were already giving you a free pass even when you were against it buddy!). I think the real reason he "struggled" with the decision in the past was not about his 'Christian' faith, but more because the black Christian voting block is largely against gays...but I think B.O. realized he'll get their vote regardless of what he says or does, so he decided to aim to snag the huge Lady Gaga crowd.

I don't really comprehend why this issue seems to be on par with real issues, but meh...whatever. I am totally indifferent to same-sex relationships. Do what you want---that's the libertarian mindset, barring causing harm to another person. And in the case of marriage, I don't even think the 'authority' rests with the states...it rests in the churches and ordained minsters. Whatever faiths want to recognize as marriage, should be their choosing. So in that respect, yes, I am for gay marriage.

Here's what B.O. had to say about it:
"...in the end the values that I care most deeply about ... is how we treat other people and, you know, I, you know, we are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule, you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated. "

I'm sure anyone who knows me, knows where i'm headed now... What he is saying would be A-Ok with me if he were at all consistent with rooting his beliefs in Christ's sacrifice, and treating others the way we want to be treated, with regard to abortion. He's heavily supporting killing off his own race--black women are 3 times more likely than white to abort....and many of them not only once. I hate to even see the screenshot on the video I posted a few blogs back... I shudder every time. No Christian can watch that and say "hey, Christ is cool with it!" I guess in B.O.'s pseudo-christianity, this "golden rule" has exceptions in fine print.

I agree that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. I don't really care about gay marriage. I feel if that is who you chose to love and marry then that is up to you. As for abortion I don't believe in it as a form of birth control. It has it's place but I am iffy about the whole thing.

BUT I don't judge either side. I think ultimately God knows the heart of "man" and He has the only authority to judge.

As for Obama I think it is extremely difficult to stand by your religious beliefs and still try to run a country. It is hard for us to live day to day and stand by ours and we are not running a country...lol.

I do think he can be swayed by his desire to win votes but he is still a man that needs to be shown grace and mercy for his decisions.

I know how hard it is for me to stand on truth when I am confronted with pressing isssues so I can imagine how he feels.

I just pray for his strength and courage.

Great post. :)

Thanks Moni! (can I call you that? lol)

While I agree ultimate judgment is God's alone, I think we all have a responsibility to not only judge what is right and wrong, but attest to the truth even to the point of persecution. In my opinion, to be complicit amidst senseless and subsidized murder of the defenseless, is sinful. Which is why I hold Obama and those supporting him accountable--because while other controversial political issues might determine one's votes, they cannot compare to the atrocity of abortion, of which the truth is rarely reported. So while I pray for our Lord to guide and protect our president, I am not the one who can confer mercy for his choices. And there is certainly no mercy or grace in killing babies. And this is no arbitrary connection I am drawing between Obama and abortion; it was the main cause he campaigned on (and with the funds of NARAL). Everything/Anything the pro-choice have lobbied for, he has tried and/or succeeded in attaining.

I agree it must be hard to balance your faith with your duties as president--but abortion isn't really a faith issue...it's black and white, wrong. You don't have to even be a 'theist' to know intentional murder of the innocent is intolerable. As one little voice against what seems to be the world, I will never stop trying to reveal truth in the face of lies about abortion.

Basically, to me Obama has made his stance on the side of death oh so clearly and defiantly, that he no longer deserves the 'benefit of the doubt' about this particular issue. I pray that his 'evolution' of belief in gay marriage begets an evolution of his beliefs on the sanctity of life.
