I sure am. I don't know what's going on but our immune systems are sure taking a beating. First I had my weekly "cleaning day" on tuesday, where I do all the laundry, clean up the kitchen, and clean the floors. Since we have hard floors downstairs, the dogs dander and whatever they bring in from the back, is always swirling around while I sweep up before I scrub floors with special cleaner...well the dust/dander everywhere brought on a violent sneeze attack, which actually injured my eye...it itched all night. The next morning I woke up to get ready for pilates and noticed my eye was totally bloodshot and swollen...not as open as the other one. And every time I bent over to pick the kids or their toys up, the pressure behind my eye built up so much it felt it was gonna push my eye out. It got progressively worse, and the cold symptoms got worse, no matter what allergy medication I took.
Then I noticed Olivia didn't look right after the gym on wednesday morning...after her nap she began whining and I checked her temp. It was only 99.2, but I know she looked ill and probably had what Lucas had...the flu. Then John came home from work after working 10 days straight...he had the chills. He slept as soon as he got home. I decided to sleep up in the guestroom, to be close to Olivia's room, and also to be away from whatever John had. The next morning John thought he was better, but later got the chills and fever and achiness all over again. Olivia woke up miserable with the same 99 fever, so I took her to the doctor. They again doubted she had the flu since it's not flu season and her fever was low....but she tested positive like I said. She has been on tamiflu the past 2 days and I think I caught it early for her so hers isn't as bad as Lucas but she has her miserable moments...she is just way more playful than he was.
When I got home, John and my doctor was not available so I made John go to the CVS minute clinic about 15 min away. His throat has been horribly sore and he's real out of it....they tested him for strep and the flu...both negative...but they gave him tamiflu anyway since Olivia has it. They said his throat looked horrible and had white patches....and yet they didn't prescribe any antibiotic! So he's miserable again...he's supposed to work night shifts starting tomorrow so we'll see. I had 4 days of amoxicillin so he took it tonight, until tomorrow when he can go back to the clinic and get a full 10 days worth.
I was also not getting better. I wasn't able to see out of my right eye because it was so swollen and watery. I also had this pain in my jaw right where it connects in front of my right ear, so I looked up the symptoms and read TMJ disorder causes that pain and can lead to eye pain and redness...TMJ is basically a problem in your alignment of your jaw, which can cause so much trouble with your whole head and neck and shoulders. So, I felt stupid but I went to a dentist for my eye problem....he was so nice and immediately did a panaramic scan--which revealed I do have TMJ disorder, plus the clicking in my jaw when I open wide. It's also related to my teeth-grinding at night...So I will have to go back for my regular cleaning and get a night guard made...which costs $324. For some reason my dental plan doesn't cover them.

The dentist said the TMJ was aggravating my eye, but I had some other issues going on as my sinuses were huge in the xrays....so he referred me to an opthamalogist...next door. Went in and my damn vision insurance wouldn't cover it since it's deemed a medical visit. $70 later, the doc says I have a combination of bacterial and viral infection involving my eye, nose and probably ear. He prescribed a $25 eye drop prescription with antibiotic/steroid mix. He said I should also see my primary doctor to check out my ears and throat.
So, I went to see her today. She's nice...but I always feel like her staff forgets that I'm there and I'm left waiting for hours for a test that takes 5 minutes. Anyway, when she came in, she didn't even want to touch me...(took shower didnt fix hair or make up...my eye bulging and red..lol) and she was astounded by all I told her and prescribed 8 different things for me...she said I have swimmers ear, a throat infection, eye infection, and possibly flu/cold exacerbated by my horrid allergies. She said she'd give me a steroid shot...I told her she gave me one last month..and it did nothing. My allergy meds do nothing..so she recommended I take singular, allegra, and 2 nasal sprays, fluticasone and astepro, daily. Of course 2 of them don't have generics, and allegra is OTC but expensive. She then gave me an antibiotic shot in the butt that hurt. Her nurse swabbed me incorrectly for strep and flu (I called her on it and she said she doesn't like to swab the tonsils because it makes you gag, so she does your tongue....and she didnt go far enough in my nose for the flu test) so they came out negative even though my throat burns like hell. She prescribed tamiflu just in case, plus medrol, which is a strong steroid that you have to take in high-to-low doses to prevent adrenal damage...
So we all feel like crap and are stuck in this house, which I feel makes us sicker. I wash the kids hands all the time. Wash my hands all the time. I don't know whats causing it, but I will buy hepa filter things for the air vents and start wearing masks, goggles, gloves, suits when cleaning from now on. So tired and also feel like I'm wasting time not using this expensive gym membership... Meanwhile, Lucas seems okay--I think he dealt with enough already. It's our turn.
Here's Lucas singing his new favorite song....I have been singing it and dancing because they play it during spin class sometimes and it's so stupid I feel like a clown....but me and the kids grew to like it because we shake our butts and run around the house singing "BOOTY WORK BOOTY WORK!"
Olivia sings it too...and the peanut butter jelly song lol.
I am considering getting a medical degree and becoming a doctor strictly for my own family...no one listens to me!
I might have to go to an ENT or allergy specialist...and probably an orthodontist for this stupid TMJ...what do I not have?

DAYANG girl! i like your idea of becoming a doctor so you can take care of your family. I would gladly sponsor a portion of your education. i'm gonna need the full version of booty work, tho.
and i really hope you guys knock off all the illnesses. KNOCK IT OFF!
i don't understand how you guys got it so bad. it is very strange. sorry.
happy mother's day to you!
Hmmm maybe it's a coincidence, but when we first moved into our new house, we were always getting sick. I always had a feeling it was being in a new place that was causing it.
I really hope you guys all get better.
Here are some suggestions you can try, if you haven't already. I do these and they seem to keep the germs away. Not all the time of course, but a lot of the times.
Make your family eat an apple once a day.
Make sure everyone is drinking lots of water.
Give everyone in your family supplements customized to their needs.
My hubby for example, is always tired. So I give him a multivitamin and an extra vitamin C pill and B-12. Also, when he was having circulation problems, I gave him some garlic oil supplements.
We've been taking them for about 3-5 months now and things are improving. Little E takes his multivitamins but also takes a Vit C supplement before he heads out to school 1-2 times a week.
No matter how much you wash your hands, you can't prevent the germs from traveling when the kids have contact with public place.
Make sure that you bathe the kids with warm water and soap after you come home from the gym, every time. I think this will be helpful to them. Though it will be annoying to do.
It's like when kids go to daycare, they are always sick because of all the kids.
I am sorry you guys are all sick. I am tired of reading this about you all because you should be happy, healthy and enjoying life again.
Sending you healing thoughts.
