The Downstairs Bathroom

hmm..sounds like a good name for a band.

Well, we are almost done with the bathroom. Took out the old sink and toilet. Repaired the walls. Fresh coat of paint. New floors, baseboards and quarter-round. New ($34) sink vanity, new mirror, new towel racks/toilet paper holder, and new dual-flush toilet installed!

It was a lot of work and with constant obstacles, but we have done almost everything, and all we have left is to hook up the sink.
Yesterday, we ran into a wall with the toilet wax ring seal. The new flooring caused it to be higher up. After numerous trips to Ace hardware and Home Depot, wax rings and plastic/rubber seals, we finally layered 2 wax ring/flanges together and sealed the toilet. It has a button for pee, and a button for poo, to conserve water. Here are pictures of the whole tiring process:

John leaves thursday for a few weeks...i have to start the daunting task of painting the whole house...i am already tired and achey! but i wouldn't pay $2000 for someone else to paint it (which is what I was quoted). Wish me luck.

haha! I wouldn't mind. but i am tired of painting right now! john just left for 2 weeks, so i have a lot on my shoulders. funny how you guys all knew i was the one doing all the work. lol. true, but i do enjoy it and i am very impatient so i like to get things done. i am aching and tired, and have the babies all by myself now, but everything WILL pay off, or thats what i keep telling myself.

but i am excited to do projects to our next house...ones that we can actually enjoy ourselves and not be doing for someone else lol. cant believe we are already showing the house next month! yikes!

yes...my back and legs are paying for it but i know i have conditioned john to expect a lot when he comes home so i dont want to disappoint! :) it is fulfilling to get these big tasks done though, and it is making time go by quickly. i wish i was a pro at painting like my neighbors---they all dont even use painters tape! i have to...too worried about missing the lines.
