It was a normal morning assembly line of duties: changing diapers/clothes, gathering bottles, bringing babies down to have breakfast. I went to get Lucas his waffle and came back to this:
He wants to be babied so badly. Whenever anyone acknowledges Olivia, he creeps over and makes little noises/babbles to get attention :) But he's a nice boy and puts his dishes in the sink, and brings Olivia her bottle and blankie. And totally makes her laugh (intentionally or not..)
And today is my 26th birthday, but unfortunately Johnny had duty so he was gone and comes home tomorrow morning. I got this beautiful rose and lily bouquet, but I don't know who it was from, because it doesn't say:
Lol. It was obviously from John, but he said he ran out of characters to type in the "comment" box on the website. Also, the card looked like it was written by a 5 yr old; it was barely legible, and there were mispelled words too. That's what you get from the Farm Fresh employees lol. But it was a sweet note anyway..you know, it says the usual things like ahem, how I am "the best wife and mother." :) Then he called around 2pm and told me I have another gift coming. I hope that wasn't a joke! Now I feel spoiled :)
Then I had Bryan and his sister come over to start restaining the deck. It was delayed for the past few days because of rainy weather, but today was perfect for it. They got half of it done, and are finishing it tomorrow. Looks great--forgot pics. I will get it when it's completed. Bryan is a very skillful and hard-working young man (yup, I'm 26 now so I'm old enough to call guys 'young men.') He maintained the yard, pressure-washed the front of the house and deck, repaired the broken deck parts, and is staining it, all for $200! And he got me in touch with a flooring expert :)
Then Frank, a general contractor I met through Bryan, came over with his son to install laminate wood floors in the downstairs half-bath. They worked very hard while navigating through babies and their toys. the flooring is now finished! Looks great--all we have to do is put the toilet back, (with the new wax ring I bought---thats a whole other blog...next time) and install the $34 sink I got, and then put up little things like a mirror and towel racks etc. Well-worth the $200--and he came the next day after talking to him!
Here's the potty-hole we will be aiming for (we decided toilets are outdated and prefer a simple latrine)j/k...:
I was checking to see how the sink I bought fits in the bathroom, but I noticed the drains don't totally line up, so i picked up a flexible pipe extension from Ace Hardware. I am not putting the sink or toilet back in tonight though, because it's going to be a tedious task that needs my full, energy and attention...and probably Johnny's help too!
My mom came over and made me delicious layered nachos and a strawberry cake, while Norman played his games and Lucas played with his rockband drums again. And Susan washed the dishes :) It was a nice birthday, but of course I missed John. He says this is the last birthday (of mine) he will miss. (He will probably miss the babies' and his bday this coming January since we will be in CA and he will be on the ship til he gets out in Feb.
The party was over when Olivia pooped...I got down to change her and as I am wiping, she is giving me some more softserve all over the blanket she lays on, and the carpet. I cleaned the floor and the blankets in the washer, Susan wiped Olivia's still pooping butt, and then I took both babies up for their bath...and then guess who decided to poop for the 3rd time today? Lucas! Ah..my life is pretty stinky lately.:) But they are both sleeping finally. And clean. Now it's my turn. To poop and shower that is lol.
I am going to get things ready for the early mass tomorrow (got a kids bday party tomorrow at 1:30pm and Lucas needs his nap first, so we are going to the earlier mass) but thanks to everyone for all the love. And I am so grateful the house is coming together :)
And for the first time, I feel like I am getting kinda old! I am 26...four years from 30! wow...but I'm happy with where I am at with John right now though. Excited for our future. lol. I asked Bryan what bday he thought this was of mine..he guessed 28! Frank's son guessed correctly though. Guess I don't look as young as I thought!
