So, John had the weekend off and last night we both were up every few hours with Lucas, who is adjusting to sleeping in his room. Some nights he does better than others, but the nightly routine of cereal, a bath, a bottle and reading some books usually puts him to sleep around 10 or 11pm, and he usually wakes up about every 3 hours. We finally ended up putting Lucas in our bed around 6am, and he slept a little more. John got up with him around 8am and went downstairs to let me sleep. I FINALLY got up around 10am, and swore I smelled pancakes--when I knew we didn't have Bisquick...I thought maybe Susan was cooking something like her peach cobbler, but I walked downstairs, saw Lucas playing with his toys, and John cooking away in the kitchen! A whole breakfast just for me! Pancakes, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, sausage! And he even took Lucas with him to go to the store to pick up all this while I slept. Isn't that sweet? I was so impressed (and happy that I had indeed smelled pancakes!) Sometimes he just reads my mind. It was a very nice weekend together. It's times like these that I know we were
meant for each other---aside from the fact that we will soon have 2 kids who (hopefully) share his birthday. What else could that mean?

John has been in a good mood lately because things are improving at his work. The ship is now in the shipyard closer to us, so no more driving on the underwater tunnel. He got a new job that will be significantly easier and less hours. He gets to park in the parking garage close to work (when he had to be shuttled before). These things greatly improve his outlook as he eagerly counts down the days he has left in the Navy (635 to be exact).
In other news, John has shown more and more interest in being a politician and I am so excited for that. I know he would do really well and be very influential. It will be wierd to be a politician's wife, and I am sure I will have to bite my tongue, but I really want John to do it and totally support him. I like when he is ambitious. He wants to go to William & Mary (which is really close to us) when he gets out. "Senator John Hodge" may be a ways away, but I can dream in the meantime. Man that will be weird to run a campaign and be elected to office by voters. I hope we can handle the pressure!
