Sunday at the Park

Mom, Norman, Lucas and I went to the New Quarter Park yesterday since the weather was so nice- it was 70 degrees. We took Lucas in the stroller for a while, and then I decided to try out my little carrier thing that Shawna gave me. The whole point of going to the park was to try to keep Lucas awake during the day so he would sleep better at night, and he ended up sleeping the whole time against my chest. We walked 3 miles total, all the way to the water of the York River. Not a lot of cool wildlife yet, it's not quite warm enough and it wasn't the right time of day, but I think I will make the park a regular thing so I can get some exercise and Lucas and I can both get some vitamin D.

Lucas really liked this carrier; I guess it's similar to being in the womb again since he's right against me.

Norman just got this skateboard and is re-learning some of the tricks he used to do. I am sure I will get better pictures of him skating after he's practiced for a while.

Norman stayed back at the courts while mom and I walked to the water. He ended up meeting up with a friend from his tennis group.

These are my mom's white feet; she uses self-tanner on her legs lol.

There were lots of cool plants and trees, no animals this time. This was some kind of fern.

Here is some sage--it smells alright, but I don't like how it smells when people burn it (like incense).

This is holly, and holly berries. There were a lot of these.

I love that place. Susan and I saw many deer and I actually got a little scared when they were staring at us and not running!
At least you know Lucas likes that carrier. If he falls alseep in something, it's a good thing.
I appreciate your attempt at keeping him awake during the day to get him to sleep longer at night. You're the mom, be as creative as you like! Do more tummy time, even though he might not like it. Play your guitar and sing for him, but do it kinda loud so it doesn't lull him to sleep. Get in the bath with him, even if he doesn't need a wash, just to play in the water.
Lol at Mom's feet.
p.s. it was warmer there than here! it's been pouring rain and pretty chilly.

I know i was looking forward to seeing deer, but we left probably just before they come out at sundown. I am glad lucas liked the carrier too--i just have been having really rough nights, and to top it off, i just got a really bad cold and am miserable. I can't take any cold meds because they make you sleepy! can't have that. Yeah it was warmer this week, but this weekend it's supposed to go back to being in the 30/40's and rainy.

How nice to have such a beautiful park to walk to. I bought a baby wrap when I had Ethan and he slept in that thing all day. It was the only way I could clean the house shop or anything. He quickly out grew it.
Bad colds are going around I have one and so does Sophie and Ethan. Sophie had a high fever for 6 days that would go up to 104. Now Ethan has a high fever. We also had pink eye after babysitting my friends kids. She didn't know her kids had it until it was too late. Seems everyone is getting sick. Hopefully you'll get better soon.

hi brianne- i got your message today--thanks for being concerned. I was trying to get some errands done today because John is supposed to come home for 1 day tomorrow and then he's out for at least another 4...I want to be able to just relax with him tomorrow. I hope you and your babies feel better too. I feel so sick and want to sleep it off so bad but I gotta stay up for lucas! Susan helped me a lot last night though, and we did get to walk a little at the park today and he stayed awake for most of it! I even think I saw his first genuine smile at me while pushing him in the stroller! OKay i better get my laundry before lucas wakes up- thanks for your call, talk to you soon.

Georgie loved and still loves the carrier! She's getting to be heavier in it, but that was the only way I could cook, clean or do ANYTHING the first few months! I'm so happy for your little family. It's great! Beautiful pics!

I just read that you've been sick. James gave Maxine a bad cold and fever and then I got it from her. Jose and Rocky are fine. Maxine's all better now, too. Mine is just hanging on and sometimes my ears plug up for hours and it is so yucky feeling.
I didn't take anything that made me sleepy, just mucinex and zicam. Is it even ok to take meds when you're pumping breast milk?

i don't know who i got sick from, but it was pretty bad and i didn't want to take any cold meds because they would just make me more tired. it was worst when john was here one night, so his help with lucas allowed me to get some much needed rest and i feel better today so hopefully i'm through the worst of it. I am gonna try to get out to the park today since it's sunny, but lucas was throwing up a lot of breastmilk yesterday and still has a lot of gas/poop pain problems, even though I m using 'little tummies' drops. i may have to take him to the doctor. last night wasn't bad though--i just didn't sleep when i should have and didn't drink enough water for how much i am pumping so i have a headache. gotta refuel and eat something good and hearty.
