Anyway, we are also going down for a friend's baby shower. John was in the Navy with this guy, and he and his wife live in the Houston area, where he got a job at Air Products, which is where John also worked when we lived there. They are a cute couple and are having their first child in April. I remembered my mom having made this diaper cake for the baby shower we had for Lucas back in 2008:
This was me before I actually had to take care of kids lol...Lucas was in my belly for 3 more months after this. And no, I am not too proud of the McCain sticker I have here, as John McCain has since defected to the dark side. Sarah Palin's still cool with me, although I wouldn't want her to run for president. Right now I'm thinking Rand Paul has my vote. And Ted Cruz should be on that 2016 ticket as well..
Anyway, back to my point. I know my mom worked hard on that diaper cake and enjoyed it so I asked her to help me make one for my friend's baby shower. She and I did this, and we both enjoyed it so much that we are thinking of starting a business:
I hope Monica likes this :) I am really excited for her to become a mommy.
Some detail:
And then I started thinking about/looking up other ideas for fake cakes. My mom thought about retirement parties, and making adult diaper cakes--I thought that was pretty funny. Then John and Susan thought about pet gear cakes (some people really love their dogs and get them all kinds of knick-knacks). And I put together this 'housewarming cake', made of hand towels and kitchen items. I was pretty proud of it :) My idea for these, is to sell them to realtors who can give them as gifts to clients when they close on a house.
I have a few other ideas, but I am not sure about the 'logistics' of them, or how I would ship them. But it's exciting when you get this sudden entrepreneurial spirit, and it's always fulfilling to 'create' something. I would appreciate any feedback, advice or ideas !!!
