Our First Family Trip

John and I woke up yesterday morning and decided we would drive to North Carolina for the weekend. It was a mini-family trip and we made Norman come along too. We originally planned to go to this theme park called "Carowinds" in Charlotte, but we didn't feel like it (Norman gets sick like I do...) so we just did stuff in Charlotte. Okay, our main incentive to go was to eat Jack in the Box, which we all loved in California. We all ate a bunch of tacos (still 2 for 99 cents), and thoroughly enjoyed it. That in itself made it worth the ~5 hr drive! We ate there numerous times during the trip...
Is this baby or tacos?

Before...

After...
We stayed in a nice hotel called The Renaissance, and interrupted a wedding reception on accident. The room was very nice and clean, but next time we will definitely bring the travel crib for Lucas; John and I didn't sleep very comfortably with him in the middle squirming around. But Lucas behaved very well and slept most of the night without needing bottles.
I love this one

And this one too

Getting ready for the pool

He loved the mirror in our room

We all had to burn off some of those tacos in the hotel gym

Ready to go splashy!

Fancy Shmancy hotel---glad we had it all to ourselves!

In the morning:

Barf..
Then we decided to visit one of my old workplaces, Sam Ash Music Megastore. It was a lot nicer than the one I sold guitars at in Canoga Park. It was fun to play the electric drums and MOOGs!
I'm all about free entertainment
We stopped by the Southpark mall, but only bought this strawberry sorbet thing that Lucas wanted so badly...but couldn't have (strawberries). The mall was really expensive (Neiman Marcus, Louis Vuitton etc) So we decided to drive around some neighborhoods, since we are considering moving there after the Navy. Houses were beautiful and i'm pretty sure the prices are comparable to VA. And then out of the corner of my eye, I saw a Panda Express! For those of you who don't know, this is delicious Chinese food we used to get in CA. John worked at one for a while after high school. I remember him smelling like chinese food when he would come over after work lol. It was delicious!
Norman enjoyed it too; he hasn't had it in a long time too!

I had to show their rating; we don't get grades on stores/restaurants in VA; so who knows how clean they are. But in NC, they even give the percentage, and this one was almost perfect!
Here is a video compilation of stuff we did on the trip. It was a nice cheap trip and we'll do it again! Although we learned Lucas HATES public bathroom changing tables. But we will have a family car soon and I would rather change him in the back of the car anyway. Enjoy! North Carolina was great!

Great pictures! I love them all! Lucas always looks so happy and appears to be FULL of personality. I want to squeeze him. I would be very hesistant to take Maxine on a 5 hr drive. She doesn't like sitting in the carseat for too long, especially if we get stuck in traffic. Oh, and she gets carsick :S
That JitB food looked fantastic! And those homes are gorgeous. Just right for me ;)
Glad the restaurant had those ratings posted. I think its strange to walk into a place that has no such thing.

jen- its not often that we do stuff like that! but i love the idea of making family memories and having pictures and video. Btw, john is already planning our trip to boston to see you guys---he wants to see a red sox game (although he isn't a fan lol) and some other historic stuff. I am excited to see lucas and chase together!

sarah- thanks! I liked taking pictures and video everywhere we go. And yes, lucas doesn't like the carseat much either, but he might like it better in our family car in 2 months. He doesn't like it when the car stops either lol.

the food was good--but we all gained weight thats for sure--my appetite is back with a vengeance.plus we ate when we weren't even hungry just to really savor the foods we can't have here lol. It was a fun little test trip for lucas. He did well! :)

thanks brianne--yeah you just reminded me to check out NC real estate. I am sure the prices are reasonable for big houses like the ones pictured. Pretty much the further south you go on the east coast, the more footage you get for your $.
