We finally baptized Lucas at St. Bede's church at yesterday's 5:30pm mass! We had a new priest, Rev. Arlon Vergara and this was his first baptism! We weren't allowed to photograph during the mass, so we have pictures afterward. As for the baptism, there was one other baby being baptized with Lucas, a 5 month old baby girl aptly named Samantha! She was very small- especially compared to Lucas, and she was very good throughout the whole mass. Lucas was getting hot and uncomfortable in his suit, and whiney during the mass so we had to feed him during the homily. He subsequently fell asleep on dad's shoulder only to be rudely awakened by a little shower over his head! He cried a little but then was really interested in everything around him. He was blessed and annointed with oil on his forehead and chest, and stared at the candle we got for his baptism.

After the baptism, John, myself, Eileen, Chuck, my mom and norman all carried the gifts to the altar. It was a nice mass and I was very happy with how everything had turned out; our game night buddies showed up with Alex, who did so well during the mass AND the reception! At the very end of mass, the Knights of Columbus presented us with beautiful roses for the mothers, and for our respect for life. It was a very special gift and we appreciated it very much. Eileen's brother Mike and his wife Tara came with all 5 adorable kiddies there, even though they were going to be at mass today too! Luz, Lina and Loly also came and gave us wonderful gifts- here is a picture of all Lucas' gifts:

Thank you Luz for the card and money! Thank you Lina for the card and gift cards--Lucas needs some new toys! Thank you Loly for the gift and book--and for the delicious food! Thank you Vikki for the boppy pillow! Thank you Jim and Shawna for the adorable picture frame--always appreciate picture frames now that I take pictures non-stop! Thank you mom and norman for the cute "Tiny Testament!" Thank you Susan for taking pictures and buying Lucas more formula last minute! Thank you Eileen for the colorful rosary and cross for Lucas' room picked out by Madison. Thank you Vikki, Eileen, Chuck and Mike for cooking us delicious food, hosting a wonderful reception at your home, and for taking on the responsibility of being Lucas' Godparents and guiding us as parents. Thank you Tara and Landon for lending Alex some shorts---I really wanted them to stay and be comfortable and you helped a lot! Thank you Madison, Daniella, Kensley, Landon and Peter for entertaining everyone, especially Lucas! A special thanks to Peter for escorting and serving us as soon as we arrived! And thanks to John's mom and grandma Ida for the sweet card and checks---I tried to tell John they were for Lucas, but he already has plans for that money! j/k :)
John + I, Fr. Vergara + Lucas, & Godparents Charles + Eileen
John + I with Parish Priest Fr. Abe holding Lucas--he said, "I remember when you first found out you were pregnant with Lucas!" Now we are almost halfway through the next pregnancy! At Eileen's house in Toano- the reception. You will always eat well with these people!

The guys barbecued and the kids played in the yard. It was a little humid, but not too uncomfortable. I was just so happy Alex was having fun! And he really took to Peter; Peter is the type that doesn't ever judge you, he just loves you if you'll listen to his wild and creative thoughts!
Jim and Alex looked like they were in a JCpenney catalog here! The ONLY disappointment was on the part of Coldstone Creamery who apparently didn't write down my order placed on the phone, and didn't have my cake ready...I was very disappointed because the person on the phone was acting like they were writing down every detail--a large rectangular Strawberry Cheesecake Desire cake, with white frosting, Raspberries, and "God Bless Lucas" in blue icing. I even called to confirm the pickup time on friday. But they gave us 2 round cakes, 50% off (should've been free), one strawberry cheesecake, and one cookie dough, and Eileen saved the day by icing it at her house--looks pretty good! (and tasted delicious!)

Then all the kids went upstairs to the t.v./play room and watched...dun dun dun...Jonah! Lucas was in love! Alex was probably sick of watching Jonah at game night, so he played with Legos!

What a great day! How annoying about the cake, though.

I would agree Eileen did a good job with the cake. What a fun day. You all look so happy.
