Lemons!

I decided to look up the health benefits of lemons and they are very useful! Besides helping with kidney stones and cholesterol, here are just some of the uses I found--not including all of their sanitizing uses (there are many sites devoted to lemons!):
-healing scurvy (duh)
-oral diseases
-throat disorders
-burning soles and heels, corns
-digestive problems
-fever
-hemorhage
-obesity
-cholera
-beauty aid (youth restorative)
-relieves asthma, heartburn, athritis
-even "excessive menstruation"!?

Anyway, here is Lucas' first taste of lemon:

That is so funny! I think he likes it. My kids liked lemons and pickles at a young age like Lucas. They still love them. It's fun letting them try new foods and different tastes besides sweet and creamy.

he pretty much likes everything! but yeah it is fun to have them try new things. did you ever try making your own baby food? my sister sarah did and her kids liked it. sounds cheaper, and healthier i may try it.

Aww He likes it!
I do make my own baby food. It is worlds cheaper and I am told a lot healthier...It also does not take nearly as long as I thought it would. I Have a really good book that tells me how to make what and the age a baby can have it. It is called Super foods 2nd edittion by Ruth Yaron, Very helpful. Also a really good website http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/
I really like this site.
Enjoy

As for making my own baby food. I would mash up things and give that to my kids. I did make asparagus baby food. Ethan didn't really like it:)

Homemade baby food is fun to make and way easier than you think. It also gives you a good feeling and sense of accomplishment. I have a friend who is a professional chef--tried to make her own baby food and her little girl hated it--wouldn't eat it. So before you go makin a buncha stuff and freezing it, test some recipes out and see if Lucas likes 'em. There are a couple things Maxine does not like, 1 is carrots and the other is chicken. For now anyways.

yeah i was going to ask you (sarah) what to make for lucas since he is only 5 months. i may have to look at your older blogs and get some ideas. I can't take anything like that on right this second though--i gotta wait til john comes home and i can get out of this crazy routine, and stop feeling so sick. this kidney crap is making the nausea so much worse---i have the mental energy and want to do so much cleaning and laundry, and my body (and sometimes lucas!) won't let me. I know John will be excited to take care of lucas when he comes home this week, so it will be nice to get back into that routine. :)

thanks for the advice everyone---i will definitely try it because baby food is pretty expensive.
