We live about 10 minutes from Busch Gardens Theme Park, and we've only been once, 3 years ago on our anniversary trip. Norman has a season pass, and they give military/dependents one free pass a year (plus lucas got in free), so we decided to take a little trip yesterday afternoon when it cooled off
a little.
The Tram Ride to the Park
My Handsome Brother Norman
The Lochness Monster-one of the first Roller Coasters--here's an award to prove it
Big Fat FattiesI was burning up, so I went on a water ride once with Norman. Fortunately there was a sesame street kids area, and Lucas liked it okay, but I am sure when we go again, he will like it more. He doesn't watch the show yet, but I do read him the books and he likes Elmo. We got to meet some of the characters, and he just stared at their furry hands like, "Dude, what happened to those?"

Norman and John went on the big coasters (which I would get sick on) and Lucas isn't quite big enough to go on anything but the carousel--which he did like--and it was worth it because it's the only ride you can just stay on continually!
This is a video I put together of Lucas' first ride experience--with a song I recorded about 4 years ago. When I played this recording for Lucas, he automatically recognized my voice and looked at me wondering how I wasn't moving my mouth lol. There was one roller coaster Norman and John have yet to go on, and it's crazy. It's called The Griffin, and it's really wide, like 10 people across 3 rows. And it stops on top of a vertical drop for a few seconds...looks terrifyingly sickening! They went in line, while Lucas and I waited. Well, after 45 minutes and Lucas crying, I realized the ride had stopped operating. The line was still there so I waited even longer. Then, I saw the ride start again, but the coaster was empty for 4 times around--obviously something broke or was about to. I finally found John and Norman in the line still far from getting on, (although it started operating normally again) so we decided to leave that one for next time, as it was already dark. Here is some crappy video of some of what the ride looks like:
In the dark..still waiting..here's a better video of the drop:Lucas was a good boy!

I hope we can go again soon because I know Lucas will recognize everything!

That is so funny! We almost went out there yesterday!! The Elmo thing looks really neat. Maybe we will go out there tomorrow! Looks like you guys had fun!
Looks like you all had a lot of fun. The Griffin roller coaster looks awesome. What a cutie Lucas is on the ride. The song you made with the video sounded great. I think you have a really pretty voice.
shawna- i was actually wondering how alex would like it---you should definitely take advantage of the free military pass (they let you in free once a year). Maybe if we get season's passes we can all go every single day lol. Right now they have a deal if you buy a one day ticket, it's like $10 more for a season pass til september. i might get one if susan does.
Brianne-I can tell you are really into thrill rides like that huh? I get sick, (and scared) so i just stay with the kiddy rides (i like indiana jones/pirates of the caribbean type rides).
and thanks for the compliment--it wasn't the best recording but i was excited when I got that recording program and wanted to do a bunch of 3 part harmony songs, so i never really finished editing them. the program stopped working back in 2005 so i have only been using by digital camera to record. it would be fun if we could play music together!
