Our First Soccer Game

When they first got their uniforms last week
Both L & O had their first soccer game this morning. I was up pretty early with Frankie because he had a bad eczema flare up last night and wouldn't stop pulling at his ears :( I put the steroid cream and rocked him to sleep for a little while. Then we got up and made the kids chocolate waffles---we got a waffle iron! It's fun to use. I tried this organic natural cocoa cake mix and it's pretty good! It was more expensive but it's better for you and only had 5 or 6 ingredients--all pronounceable too (i've been more wary of ingredients lately after learning about red dyes and witnessing Lucas' reaction...more on another blog).
Lucas decided to bring his ball and they ended up playing with it. Daddy used his air compressor so all our balls are fully inflated :)
I am finally seeing my kids as kids and not babies so much anymore..bittersweet. But I'm a crazy homeschooling mom so I still get to smother them and preserve their innocence a tad longer :)
Anyway we packed up all our stuff---lots of stuff...stroller, canopy thing (thank God we did---the shade was necessary in TX heat), chairs, the camera, Frankie's snacks, and the big cooler since we brought drinks/snacks for John's Kansas City team.
Almost ready to start!

It was very convenient that both Lucas' team, and John/Olivia's team were playing at the same time and back to back--so I could just turn around to watch both games. John's team of 4 & 3 yr olds did pretty well--it's hard at that age to be willing to be in front of a bunch of yelling & cheering adults! It wasn't total chaos, and our team won!
Kansas City warming up!
Get it Jonathan!
I love this action shot of the team working hard! Ethan, Jonathan, Jasper, London, Olivia and Kali too!
Commissioner Jen overseeing the game--trying to get everyone a chance to play--but first games are intimidating! We will have to work on it at practice. Poor kids are thinking--"why are there so many kids? Why is there only one ball now? why are all the adults yelling names!? Why do we have to stop when the ball rolls outside the field?" (the field was only recently painted!) Hard to visualize what a real game is just from a few practices.
Chase, Jonathan, Olivia, London, Kali, and Max waiting on Coach John's word :)
Ethan,Jasper, Olivia, Jonathan, & London lining up while little Kali prepared to kick!
Jonathan, London and Jasper really running for it!

Every now and then I would check on Lucas' team--the 5 yr olds. They were more focused and kept the ball  on the field longer. I turned around and saw Lucas give me a thumbs up---he usually does this at gymnastics and yells "I love you mama" so I waved...and then the team informed me he just SCORED A GOAL! Sad I missed it but there'll be more games :)
"I scored a point mama!"

I was so proud I was almost emotional--but i'll blame it on the pregnancy :P He was so good and ran dribbling the ball across the field without tripping (he tends to trip because he's a shuffler!) He even fell on the ball, but managed to get back up without touching the ball with his hands! I saw he was elated to hear others cheer for him too. It was a great moment. His whole team did well together and we are excited for next week.
Ready to play!

Frankie being bashful with little Bristol :)
Olivia actually did help her team keep the ball, but she's more interested in the babies :)
If you can ignore my annoying yelling, check out the few clips I got---not much since I was going back and forth and minding Frankie:
