I was wrong!

My doctor recommended I get a 12 week nuchal translucency scan done to check for markers for chromosomal issues. Since it was non-invasive and i've miscarried before, I agreed. I am always excited to see the baby growing and moving! Even at 12 weeks, when they are the size of a lime, they are so human to me in their movements and look, that it amazes me anyone could think otherwise.

They measured the fold behind the neck, and said everything looks healthy, heartrate was 163, and the baby actually measured 7 days bigger than my gestational period suggests :) Maybe we will have a Christmas baby!

To my surprise, (as far as the dr could tell at this point), the baby looks to be a boy---I was so sure it was a girl, I had a name picked out and was saving more of Olivia's old clothes. But John is happy, I'm happy and Lucas is happy to get another baby brother. Olivia still wants a girl, so I said "maybe next time, or when we adopt". :) So far the name we like best is Benson. We really like this show called "The Regular Show" and there's a character named Benson. You know we'll probably call him Benny. Well, we have time to change our minds by New Year's Eve.

Of course, at my 20 wk scan, we could get another surprise and find out it is actually a girl :) Who knows!
