Tonight we met her at this place called Cindi's NY Delicatessen & Bakery. My mom happened upon it a few weeks ago and bragged about it so much that we went and tried it too. They have 5 restaurants, but they are all pretty far from us. Anyway, this place had such an extensive menu, with foods typical of NY deli's, and they are all very good, and at great prices. We asked them to build one in Frisco, and they are actually already looking into it ;) If you'd like to hear the story of the Vietnamese family who started the business 20 yrs ago, there is a video (as well as pics and the full menu) on their website: http://cindisnydeli.com/
Here is grandma with her cards from all of us--I forgot to take a picture of the inside of Lucas' card..but he wrote exactly what he wanted to say which was, "Grandma, I want a hug. I miss you. Happy 55 birthday. Love, Lucas". He was proud of that. :)
Everyone liked their choices--Norman had a huge burger, John had I think roast beef?
The kids loved the spaghetti! Ate all of it :)
They tried some of grandma's birthday cookie--a famous NY black & white cookie.
This is the son of Ann Vo, who started the business 20 yrs ago. Nice guy--gave mom a free slice of chocolate mousse cake.
Happy Birthday mom!
This was actually a picture of what I ordered the first time--I couldn't finish it but all of it was good...every bit of it was delicious. Chicken & Dumplings, mashed potatoes, steamed brocolli, and the combo delight, which is my kind of sandwich. So much better than the sandwich chains out here that have 2 slices of meat....and I love that they use sprouts!
Desserts!
