How Pathetic
B.O.'s brainwashed youth..coming to a school near you?
Do they have to make kids worship him now too? You think any public school would've gotten away with worshipping George W. Bush?
"....Hooray, Mr. President! You're number one!
The first black American to lead this great nation!
Hooray, Mr. President we honor your great plans
To make this country's economy number one again
Mmm, mmm, mm
Barack Hussein Obama!..."
Pretty gross. The parents weren't informed about it either.
Teachers are the most over-paid useless people in the country currently. They barely work, with summers/holidays/weekends free, and they no longer teach anything anymore, aside from their own ideologies. Hopefully we can afford private school for Lucas and Olivia. That goes X 100 for college professors.

Annoying
I've always hated Dave Matthews Band, Dave Matthews, and the oh-so-loyal "DMB" fans but there are just endless reasons to continue hating. I am so sick of ignorant people who think the only reason one doesn't worship B.O., has to be racism. Are they that ignorant, or is it actually that they are too lazy to learn about his ridiculous and socialist policies to come up with a better argument in their defense?
Answer: Both.

And to add to the barf-fest, John Edwards supposedly promised his knocked-up mistress (while his wife is dying of cancer) a wedding with their favorite band...who? You guessed it, the guys who dump their crap on everyone, either with their "retard having an orgasm" music, or literally if you take boat tours through Chicago (which is full of it anyway).

24 week appt
We had an appointment today for another ultrasound to see Olivia's heart. Well all 4 chambers are pumping correctly! Her heartrate was 141 bpm. The sonographer also got some cool 4d pictures of her with her tiny little hands on her face. She currently weighs 1 lb 8 oz. I had a dream recently that I had her at 24 weeks so it freaks me out! But then again, going through labor at all again freaks me out! Here are the pictures we got today:

The Stupid 7
...who obviously don't want to be re-elected:
Burris (D) from Illinois; (what a surprise...the guy that Blagojevich appointed..)
Casey (D) from Pennsylvania;
Durbin (D) from Illinois;
Gillibrand (D) from New York;(remember that NY idiot woman I was talking about?)
Leahy (D) from Vermont (barf..);
Sanders (I) from Vermont; and
Whitehouse (D) from Rhode Island
It's sad when respected 'journalists' like Charles Gibson isn't even aware of the numerous videos released exposing ACORN's corruption, made by 25 yr old O'Keefe, and 20 yr old Hannah Giles. I am glad they released only one video a day for the past week because I knew they would try to say they are isolated events, but ACORN is abound with criminals and corruption.
One video showed a female employee talking about her career running a brothel, and murdering her husband. Another showed a male propositioning Giles, after telling them to bring the underage girls from El Salvador to Tijuana, where the ACORN employee has friends to assist the smuggling of the girls into the U.S. And no other news outlets give any attention to the videos except Fox news, whose ratings are now higher than any other network. Acorn is pathetically trying to sue the videographers and Fox (good luck).
Despite the 'mainstream' media's attempt to cover it up for sake of Obama's reputation (as he explicitly said during his campaign that if he were president ACORN will have a place at the table, in setting the country's agenda), so many people have heard about it and contacted their senators, that the Senate actually passed an amendment that would prohibit ACORN from receiving anymore public funds (now all they need to do is get rid of their tax-exempt status). The senate passed it 83-7. Even the census bureau has severed ties with them. Here's how one of the senators Burris, defended (for lack of a better word) his vote:
How far up does this corruption go? Obama hasn't come out against ACORN, but I guess they haven't garnered as much attention as Rev. Wright did when he dropped him. All the democrats want to bitch about is Congressman Joe Wilson calling the president 'a liar'. Big deal. How many government officials called Bush a liar and a nazi during his term?

Going For A Walk

I don't know if it's the pregnancy taking it's toll, or just my body being tired from pulling all the weeds in the front garden, but I have been exhausted and sleeping whenever I can. John helped a lot with Lucas this last weekend while I slept lol. The yard does look a lot better though. Anyway, I was tired, but we went for a long walk anyway, and Lucas loved it the whole way through. I like our walks because John and I always talk about our goals, Lucas loves getting out and looking around, and it's a little bit of exercise that I need. Here are some pictures:

Anchor Baby?
That's my husband's new pet name for me. :) My older sister Susan has lived with us for a while, and it's nice because she helps around the house and with Lucas and we have the room--and her rent money is nice too. Then, a little over a year ago, my mom and younger brother Norman moved out here from CA, where it has just become too expensive to live. They stayed with us for a while when I was pregnant with Lucas (full house!). They now have a townhouse a few miles away from us. Well, another Gallardo has joined us in Williamsburg; my other younger brother James who will be 19 this November!

James at Arby's after picking him up at the Richmond airport
It was wierd because when Norman came out here, he was so much older than I had remembered so I accidentally called him "James" all the time. Now he is even taller and older looking. And I haven't seen James in about 4 years, since dad's funeral in 2005. Now I'm calling James "Norman". He is staying with our mom since she has a free bedroom. It's nice to see Norman and James together again and I hope they get along well. We hope to steer James in the right direction and set him up with a good job so he can get his own place out here and have something to offer his girlfriend should they get married. James knew it was the best option for him, and even left (temporarily) his cute girlfriend back in CA to do the right thing. She is coming to visit this December:

James, our niece Maxine, and his girlfriend Ally
Here are pictures from last night when he came over:

Lucas was kinda freaked out since they look so similar...he kept looking back and forth as I said "thats uncle Norman!" and "that's uncle James!"

So to celebrate we went to Olive Garden for dinner. It was busy! John took full advantage of the unlimited pasta bowl. I just had their delicious chicken & gnocchi soup (Lucas LOVED the gnocchi!) Norman was at a friends and didn't come. Here are some pictures from tonight:

John is anxious to eat and watch USC beat Ohio

Lucas and his Olive Garden girlfriend...he was petting her hair so nicely...not like he yanks mine

Lucas also flirted with a woman outside

He is always standing and letting go, so excited to show me "look mom! no hands!"

September 11th
I have to confess that after 8 years, and numerous forwarded e-mails with pictures and stories about '9/11', I have become somewhat desensitized to the whole September 11th catastrophe. But after watching the History HD channel's special on remembering 9/11, which was footage of ~100 people with personal cameras, you feel all of those emotions again, and more. I wasn't fully aware of what was going on in the world in 2001, so watching it back now, makes me feel angry, touched by the countless heroes, and indescribably sad for all the suffering and pain, and crushed hope. And to remember that John's dad was in Boston, and was supposed to be on one of those planes, makes it that much more personal. It was touching to see everyone united for that short time and giving in their suffering. Sad that no one is on the same page anymore... And it makes me livid to see people in respectable and prestigious positions, belittle American heroes so much, to say that this was an 'inside job'...

God bless America and all her unsung heroes.

God bless America and all her unsung heroes.

Another "Isolated" Event
D.C. ACORN office---is confronted with a fake prostitute (i.e. 'consultant') and her pimp lawyer who is going to be in politics, and asks how they can get a loan for a house to be turned into a brothel, whose profits will fund this guy's campaign...do the ACORN employees:
A. call the cops
B. Tell them they can't help them
C. Discourage them from breaking laws
D. NONE OF THE ABOVE
Well, this is just another "isolated" incident in which the ACORN employees guide them in getting around the legal process of getting a mortgage, and funneling the profits of the 13 'ladies of the night', I mean "consultants" for a politician's campaign.
Why are these people so willing to help criminals? I don't understand it.
And this community organization stands to receive billions in stimulus money.
AND the only other network to cover this story (besides FOX, who curiously has the highest ratings now) is CNN, BUT this is how they cover it:
"How many laws did J. O'Keefe break in posing as a pimp and taping the ACORN employees?"
Wow. People are so blind and want to stay that way. I guess they can always rely on calling the sane, smart people racist right?

Mandated Abortions, Sterilization, Public School Abortions, and Animal lawyers Oh My!
Just today I read that there is a provision in the healthcare bill, that would allow "clinics" (whoever wants to apply) to be on all school-grounds, to be open during and after school, since B.O. doesn't want the parents making health decisions, he wants the schools/kids to decide. On the list to be on public schoolgrounds? Planned Parenthood. Now your kids can get abortions in between lunch and 4th period. And unlike most of the provisions in the bill which wouldn't be enacted for a couple years, this one would take effect in July 2010. How many other sneaky provisions are in there trying to usurp parental authority?

John Holdren- Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy
And let's not forget B.O.'s advisor for the "Office of Science and Technology Policy"--John Holdren, who has bitched about overpopulation in the U.S. (false) since the 1970's. The Birthrate in the U.S. has declined and we are being outnumbered. But he still thinks it will soon get to the point (2040) that we will require MANDATED ABORTIONS and MANDATED STERILIZATION to control the population.

Cass Sunstein--Advisor to the Office of Information and Regulatory affairs (i.e. another crazy 'czar')
And this guy, Cass Sunstein, who is B.O.'s advisor for the office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, wants to give animals the right to sue.
So for those of you who don't understand what's going on and stand by B.O. regardless of what he says/does, this is the deal. He wants to kill babies, let your kids kill babies, possibly mandate killing babies, but give constitutional rights/priveliges to terrorists (legal counsel) and animals...sounds so American doesn't it? I'm sure the founding fathers are happy with what this country is turning into. I'm surprised B.O. hasn't hired Peter Singer to be an 'advisor' or 'czar.'

Spitzer's High-Priced Piece of Meat
I don't really care so much about philandering politicians (although it is sad what it does to their loved ones in the public eye) but I read this article on Dr. Laura's blog and thought it was smart enough to re-post on to my blog. I used to live in upstate NY and we were surrounded by supporters for Spitzer and Gillibrand (who is now a popular NY senator who replaced Hillary) so I was already familiar with both of them before they were so widely known. But this Spitzer guy seems like a real creep; aside from resembling a character from 'Lord of the Rings', before he was Governor of NY, he served as the Attorney General during which time he pursued organized crime/internet fraud. A little ironic for him to be involved with a high-priced prostitution ring. Well, the news today is that his main 'ho' is complaining about her public image of being a piece of meat homewrecker:

Spitzer’s Call Girl Complains (by Dr. Laura)
I have some comments to make about Ashley Dupre, the highly-paid prostitute who notoriously humped disgraced ex-New York State Governor Eliot Spitzer.
Angry about the negative perception of her, Ms. Dupre wrote on a blog post: “Let me say this: most girls, to varying degrees, of course, want to be pampered and have nice shoes, designer handbags and gorgeous clothes. I know many women who target guys with money and use them to get these things. They toy with them, flirt, go on dates, have sex and then drop hints about that new dress…or being short on rent money – and the guys deliver it.”
Whoa, missy! Trying to make yourself look better by making comparisons to other devious skanks just doesn’t work that well. Everyone in the universe would like “nice things,” but some people are satisfied with richer things in life – like love and family – while others simply work hard at a legitimate job that doesn’t exploit or damage other people’s families to get those things.
One comment listed on the New York Post website in response to this story was quite interesting:
“She’s a cheap trick trying to cover the fact that she sold her body for a few thousand bucks. There IS a BIG difference. Implying that a relationship is like prostitution is like implying that hunting and killing game is no [different from] hunting and killing people. She’s trying to spin the simple fact that relationships are give-and-take to say that all that are give-and-take in any way are the same, but giving and taking in a long-term social and intimate relationship is NOT the same as a business transaction for sex. She would have done better to say that a piece of ham in a supermarket is ‘no better’ than she is being the more closer comparison to buying a piece of meat for consumption.”
I have a simple question to ask women who are defensive about their behaviors: would you teach your daughters to do this? It is amazing how the answer to this will definitely be a quick and disgusted “NO,” but then, these women are quick to rationalize.
Ashley Dupre is a disgusting creature, not only for being a “paid-for” sex machine, but mostly for being an unrepentant destroyer of some other woman’s family. It is the unrepentant part that really gets me, and should get you, too. As a foolish young woman with warped values, we could all “get” (i.e., understand) her behavior, but here she is, older and after the fact, and she still has no conscience about her actions.
It is the lack of conscience in this woman that ultimately judges her.
Oh, and what's funny about it recently, is that after Mark Sanford's long-term affair with an Argentinian woman came out, Spitzer quickly defended himself saying, "I never fell in love with any of them." So, he's a better person.

I hate Norfolk
Actually, I hate all of the southside of eastern Virginia. I am grateful that we live up here in Williamsburg, where people are more reasonable and friendly, and responsible. The crime rate in Norfolk is ABOVE average in every category (assault, rape, theft etc).
John, Susan, Lucas and I went down to Norfolk on Labor day and went to one of the big malls out there. Well, when we returned to the car apparently (I don't know why she didn't tell us then) Susan noticed our back temporary license plate was missing. I noticed it yesterday while we were out. I wasn't sure if there always was one there, or if for some reason maybe John removed it. John has been on duty all day yesterday and hasn't come home yet, so he doesn't know. I just read an article on how criminals are targeting temporary license plates from new cars to steal and put on cars that they have stolen to steal gas etc. It really makes me want a gun. I hate how irresponsible and entitled the criminals in this state are, especially in that area. You put on the local news and you always hear about shootings and child abuse/murder always in Norfolk or Virginia Beach. I know it's just a temporary plate, but it pisses me off that some dirty jerk's hands were on our new car. The rearview camera is right above the plate, it's too bad it doesn't record.
And to make things worse, I have called the Norfolk Police department to report it (as the article says to do) and they blew me off. Some bitchy lady answered and said she didn't have time to deal with it now, so I could call back or leave my number. I said I'll leave me number and said "My name is Samantha Hodge." She didn't say anything for a while so I said "Are you ready for my number?" and she yelled back "Wait a minute!" and I swear it took her 10 minutes to "write" my name. ANd then 10 more for my number, which I am sure she won't call back to file a report. So nothing will be done about it, and they will get away with it. We will never go down there by choice again, and we will probably get better plate covers that can't be taken off with just a screwdriver. Here's the picture I took of it the day after buying it:

And, we will be getting a gun for me finally. Just a handgun--I've wanted one for a while and now that we have a family, I think I am more than capable of shooting to protect them if need be.

My Big Little Boy--and the new camera
We bought a new Canon digital camera and it takes very clear pictures and video. I was looking into Nikon ones, but the nice ones I didn't know how to use, and we already have all the equipment for canon which I am used to. I like this camera and it will be put to good use:

And here is the camera at work on my boy Lucas, who stands up all the time, sometimes unassisted balancing without holding onto anything! He is so excited about cameras!

Nerd
I got my 16 issues of PennyPress Variety Puzzles this week. It was only $19 including S+H. I am addicted to these puzzles and would like to think they exercise my mind, and I at least have learned new words. I will have to post some of them on here for you guys to try. I usually don't finish a whole puzzle; there are words I never heard of etc. But I did finish one the other night and so I will challenge you guys to trying it too!

Keeping Up With The Hodge's!
Excuse me while I brag...We went to the bank yesterday morning, and were loaned a lot more than we thought we would get; about twice as much as we thought. Apparently our being frugal has paid off, as we have paid down a lot of debt and our credit score went up about ~100 pts since we last checked (when we bought the house).
SO, we went car shopping! We have been looking for an Equinox, assuming we could only get the simple 1LT for around $23,000...and after looking around we decided to buy this brand new one they just got on the lot yesterday:
It is a $37,000 2010 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ , and I actually love the color. GM hasn't been making enough Equinoxes (plural- equini?) for the demand at these dealerships, so they have been selling directly off the truck. But this one was the higher end one with ALL the customizations and more than I even was aware of. We talked down the price and got a couple discounts; one for credits we had on our GM credit card, and one for $1,000 since a person in our household (Susan) has a non-GM car(she has a VW golf)---some kind of incentive to get people to only buy GM I don't know. Note: This car is for the REALLY lazy people!
Here are the features (from what I know). I drove it home from Newport News and was so distracted by all the levers and buttons--you know, I'm a small town girl in a 'big city' car lol.
The display--both front seats have seat warmers!
Nice shiny rims
My little computer remote-it opens and closes the trunk, locks/unlocks the car, sets off the alarm, AND starts the car when I'm in the house!
Two-tone leather interior
Onstar, Emergency button, and phone! I called John from the car- you just say "dial" and the number! Guess I don't need a cell phone now!
The best picture I could get of the Sunroof--it's very nice!
The V6 engine--yeah, I know nothing about it.
The view back
Check this out--not only does it have GPS, with a voice giving directions, it has a rearview camera when you put it in reverse. Great feature to avoid hitting little kids. And it guides you in backing in to a space.
The meters and screen which is smarter than both John and I
The DVD player in the back of the front seat
You can play 2 DVD's on either side!
Fairly large trunk-the seat folds down in half so we can have Lucas' seat in, but still have a lot of room.
We are very happy to have our family car with all the things we wanted in it and more. I could drive forever in that thing. It's so nice to have just a 4 door car, to put lucas' seat in (not to mention Olivia's) and to sit high up. Lucas sits a little higher and has a window to see things better- he likes it a lot. And when he can sit in a front-facing seat, he can watch Veggietales! Thank you John!

Lucas' First Tooth!
Well this explains the tongue thing he was doing in the "Dada" video! He has been really whiney and now I know why. I gave him some frozen fruit to chew on this morning and it's helping. What a big boy! I never realized how hard it is to get a picture of his mouth that was clear! this was the best I could do. Yay for teeth and eating solids! To see it better, click on the picture to make it bigger. It's very obvious now--that one's really cutting through!
