Barbecue

Mom and Norman came over yesterday for a little bbq, and to play Norman's Xbox for a little bit. John made some good burgers and hot dogs. Lucas wasn't even afraid of Norman at all this time-- he wanted to play with him. It was a nice time, and my flank pain wasn't too bad at the time. --Thanks Louise for the cute baby clothes!

Callie's 11th bday

I didn't get to posting these pictures since I started having that flank pain/nausea that night, but my neighbor's daughter Callie had her 11th birthday party on thursday. They celebrated at a bowling alley at the Yorktown base. I was basically just watching Lucas enjoy it and Olivia eventually slept. John met me there after work. Happy Birthday Callie--i hope you enjoy your scrapbooking gifts!

I'm not pregnant, so why am I so nauseous?

For the past 3 days my back has been hurting really bad. I kept asking John to massage it and he could never really reach where it hurt. It took me 3 days to realize, this was the same 'flank pain' I had when my kidney was hydronephrotic during both pregnancies. It got worse last night, and I started to get nauseous. All I ate was brussel sprouts at ~3pm, and progressively felt too sick to eat dinner.
John had duty today so thankfully my mom cancelled her tennis match to babysit. I couldn't find a urologist that was accepting new patients/could see me today, so I went to our general family doctor. I sense he already doesn't like me since I don't fully vaccinate L + O, but he also seemed to write me off as a hypochondriac. I hate when they ask you about your pain on a scale of 1-10--you know they are going to discount a few points, and while my nausea isn't a 9 or 10, it is a dull constant pain that makes me incapable of doing many things, not to mention caring for 2 babies.
So obviously to appease me, he sent me for a CT scan. He tested my urine and it was very concentrated, so he suspects infection..but I have no symptoms of a UTI, so I think my right kidney is infected. Even when I was pregnant with lucas, my right kidney always hurt. He prescribed antibiotics and I left to the imaging center.
I just got a call back with the results and I in fact have several small kidney stones. TWO ON EACH SIDE. The biggest is predictably in my right kidney and is 4mm. Reading the excruciating pain of passing even these sized stones, is terrifying. You always hear it's worse than childbirth. My mom passed one back when I was little and agreed that it's the worst pain. I am wondering what is causing my body to create them, but I have been eating healthier ever since I found out I had high cholesterol back in 2005. Especially since having had Olivia and we stopped eating out. I only use 'smart balance' butter, skim milk, brown rice. wheat breads. Primarily drink water.

I have been referred to a urologist but it's the weekend so I have to wait til monday to make the appt. I am contemplating asking them to prescribe pain meds for me to have on hand just in case. Out of the 2 times I have been prescribed vicodin, or hydrocodone I only took 1/2 of one pill out of being scared of their affects on me, and/or my pregnancies. But I am very scared if I start passing any/all of them. I am making a list of questions to ask the urologist because I want to know why I am creating them so young and what my options are. If you know anything about them, please comment!

I found this picture along with a testimonial--this person says it's worse than child birth...and their stones were only 2-3 mm!

Olivia tasting my leg

I was burping her on my lap and was startled to feel her licking my leg--tickled. She was so comfortable like that though.

My Babies Playing

Lucas got a big laugh out of Olivia last night on the stairs. Very cute. He always takes good care of his little sister; brings her blankie, her pacifier and not her bottle to her. I love them. She just loves attention from him!

Olivia's 4 month appointment

Today was Olivia's 4 month checkup. She received 2 shots: one for DtaP and the other for Polio, according to the selective (1983) vaccine schedule I have them on. When we got there, it was hectic getting everything and everyone in the stroller, and they were both whining. Lucas now hates elevators. When we get to the receptionists, he loves them. He likes attention from women. Once we got into the patient room, they both were crying.

I had to get her totally naked to weigh her, while Lucas screamed trying to hold my legs thinking he was the one being seen by the 'evil' doctor. Olivia was a hefty 15 lbs! She is in the 90th percentile! for weight and 50th percentile for height. She's a chubby one. I have recently been only pumping about 3 bottles a day, and supplementing with formula; she is eating constantly, but the formula does give her gas. The dr. says she will just have to acclimate to the formula.

Surprisingly Lucas was worse about her getting pricked than she was! She was okay and quietly sucking her bottle by the time we left. Here are some pictures:

Pita Chips

Iris taught me this delicious substitute for processed/sodium filled chips since we both like them. I just used my favorite pita pockets, cut them up and drizzled a little olive oil on them, put a little salt, and baked them for 10 minutes. Very good! Thanks!
Yeah, I haven't been to the gym in a while. So I probably have gained weight. I will be going this week when John is home to babysit. I know it will be horrible though since it is already so miserably hot and humid outside, I know the nasty base gym will be too.

Olivia's New Dress

Mom, Norman, Me and the babies went shopping today for a few things. We even went to the mall, yes on a saturday. First we went to Toys R' Us, but they didn't have baptismal gowns. Norman bought a few new guitar controls for his Rock Band game since they were on sale for $10. And grandma bought Lucas a cute shopping cart full of fake food, a 'Toy Story' Mr. Potato Head, and a little pink pool for the front (pink was cheaper lol). It has been pretty hot here lately and tomorrow could be in the hundreds and humid---thunderstorm weather.
Anyway here are today's pictures:
I did end up finding a cute little white dress and cardigan for a total of $20 at Old Navy! I am going to look for tights and little shoes too--here she is in her dress:

Here's Lucas angry and scared on the mall rides. He never wants to be put down anymore!

And he was really excited to play with Mr. Potato Head:

Thanks Grandma!

Friendly's

Yesterday my mom took us out to dinner at a place called "Friendly's". Their food is okay, but their ice cream is the best--and they are the only people that have my favorite flavor, Pistachio. Here are some pictures-thanks mom! First we went to Yankee Candle to walk around with the babies a little bit, but Lucas was crying the whole time and wouldn't let us put him down. He was better when sat down to eat.

The day before, I picked up Norman from school since he stayed after to play soccer with a girl he insists is not his girlfriend, Sam. He tells us she's a ginger, but I think that's just a cover so we stop asking questions lol. He came over for a little while after school and we introduced him to the hilarious 'Trailer Park Boys' and he actually laughed out loud---we are all going to start using Ricky's saying "get 2 birds stoned at once," in our daily life, so feel free to join.

And Lucas must've learned something from our Game Night tradition:

Thanks for teaching him this Shawna! JK it was actually Alex who liked to take his diaper off!
