Playing at Aunt Sarah's

The babies have a lot of fun at Sarah's and it's nice to let them roam freely. Olivia loves playing with all the toys and trying to copy her cousins. Lucas loves playing with all the cooking toys and trains, and he and Maxine have their own little 2 yr old language :)

Lucas recognizes Maxine in pictures now--he says 'seeen?'

He had a poopy diaper--and i left his pants off. He was upset about having to eat dinner, and he came out wearing Raquel's shoes lol..on the wrong feet!
Then we had dinner--a mediterranean place delivered some great food!

And then it was apparently snuggle time for the 2 yr olds:

These are some photos i took of some of Sarah's scrapbook pages--I forgot about this disneyland trip in 1998..just after my grandmama died from pancreatic cancer:

And I got this pic because i looked a lot like Lucas did when he was born...will add his pic later:

Thanks for the fun Aunt Sarah!

It's a long day, living in Reseda...

Myself and the babies are now staying with Grandpa Charles and Susan in Reseda CA for our last month or so til John's out. It's surreal to be living back in "The Valley" and not much has changed. I hope to help Grandpa with whatever I can for the few weeks I am here. He misses his 'sweetheart' as he calls grandma, so dearly. But I believe, and grandpa believes it as well, that time is a great healer. :)

There are so many memories in this house; he and grandma lived here over 50 years. The backyard is so peaceful. Grandpa recently had a very vivid dream about grandma and we hope that it was her, trying to tell him a message that she is in a better place. I don't care how laughable or cliche that sounds, when you are faced with the death of a loved one, you have to confront your faith. And if you're sane, you know death is not the end.

I am grateful to get to spend time with grandpa Charles. He is the only grandpa I remember, and has always fulfilled that role to the T! It is so touching to see him interact with my babies, and still sing "grandpa grandpa grandpa!" (to the tune of 'nana nana nana.') and all his other funny little sayings/songs. Thank you grandma and grandpa for taking me in as your grand-daughter, and for being there for me :)

I learned how to do my laundry here a few days ago--here are grandma's instructions I am assuming she made for grandpa lol:

Kid's Island w/ Iris & Eddie

Last Wednesday I took the babies to meet up with Iris and her son Eddie again, at a fun little place in Arcadia called Kid's Island. It was nice to take the babies to a place where they could literally play with everything there, although they all went in different directions and it was sometimes difficult to corral them :)

Unfortunately, Eddie hadn't quite got over a bad virus, so he wasn't feeling up to it for too long. But we're going to see him again this week, and he's feeling much better now :) My babies are going to "teach" him how to share lol...yeah right! They'll all just be yanking toys out of each other's hands, but hey, it will be free entertainment for me and Iris!

And I found out we were only 5 min away from Sarah's so we had dinner there--and this is Lucas and his cousin Maxine--they are closest age wise, so they always play together...and like to get the blankets and take little fake naps together--so cute!

Maxine Louise

My oldest sister Sarah has created an online shop--she's always been incredibly creative and artsy and has found a new way to express herself, while making some extra cash. Please check out her site of cute and old products and creations:

Another Addition to the Nightly Routine*

I have a pretty strict routine with the babies (you have to especially when you have more than one baby, and daddy is gone a lot) at night, and it has worked like a charm most nights. I cannot complain! They know what to expect, and we get through it. Although it's still difficult to get through it some nights, when it's done, it's all worth it.
To anyone who might find it useful, here's what I do:
1.) I feed them both in their booster/high chairs around 6 or 7pm. Olivia is a very messy eater, so I try to give her the 'messiest' foods at dinner since she'll have a bath.
2.) I let them play a little, while I clean their chairs/plates/cups. I get her bottle of milk warmed, and Lucas' cup with water in it.
3.) Around 8pm I tell Lucas to clean up the toys. Most of the time he does a lot. He even helps roll up the little carpet to put away so the dogs don't damage it. I grab Olivia, her blankie/pacifier, bottle, sippy cup and head upstairs. He gives his hugs (if he feels like it!) and continues saying "nee-ight!" (good night) to everyone while slowly going up the stairs.
4.) I start the bath, undress them and put them in, let Lucas squeeze some 'Toy Story' bubble bath stuff in with their toys. I put their room heater on, get their pjs + diapers ready.
5.) After washing/shampooing them, I let Lucas pull the plug and tell him to pick up the toys. He used to pick them up, but just play with them now...I brush his teeth, get Olivia in a towel, Lucas climbs out on his own and I give him a towel--he sits by me in his towel and waits--but sometimes gets in his bed still wet!
6.) I dry Olivia off, put desitin on her butt, diaper her. Rub baby chest rub/vasoline on her dry cheeks, lotion all over the rest. Pajamas on, and comb her hair, give her her bottle, blankie, and put her pacifier by her head.
7.) Repeat for Lucas *.
8.) But now I tell him "lets go mark the calendar to see when daddy comes home!"

And I help him cross off today. I am going to get a picture of John to put on 2/23/11. I think he might be able to comprehend time and what's going to happen, but if not, it helps me feel better to see the days "x'ed" off! And at least it has Elvis pics on it :)
We love you so much daddy. Good luck on all your interviews and stay safe out there. Eight years almost behind you honey :) Thanks for taking care of us.

Happy 2nd Birthday Lucas!

Lucas is 2 years old today! Everyday I see him do something that jolts me--he is turning into a little boy...no longer my baby boy. Bittersweet :)

These pictures are from last week when daddy was here, but this cool tricycle that also turns into a big wheel, was his birthday gift from grandma Louise & grandpa Stan. His legs aren't quite long enough to really pedal yet, but he is trying. Olivia loves trying to climb on it/push it around too!

Then dada had his signature meal before taking Lucas for a ride in the backyard with the doggies:

And today, his real birthday, grandma Louise brought home some little cupcakes (they were pretty good too!) and he knew how to blow the candles out!

We had to give one to Olivia too--she turned 1 yr last week :)

THEN, of course grandma Louise had one more gift for Lucas...she says it was fate :)
Lucas has a lot of toy story toys and he recently got the little toy story figurines for Xmas. When he was playing with the Woody figure, he kept trying to pull the string on the back, but it didn't have one lol. The other day when Louise was shopping at Walmart, she heard a voice and it was Woody! She turned around and saw a little boy playing with his own Woody doll--the parents said they think they bought it there. So Louise went and found that there was ONE left on the shelf for little Lukey. :)

Lucas gives him a kiss:

Olivia---she put it on herself--she's so smart...she even tried to put my bra on the other day! She likes to put things where they belong all the time. Except, herself of course :)
Lucas in SOME (still a lot on storage back in VA...) of his Toy Story Glory:

Sorry you couldn't be here daddy---I know it's your birthday too. We will have to celebrate it together when you come back in February :) 41 more days til freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 1st Birthday Olivia!

Olivia is 1 yr old! That means, until the 12th, I technically have two 1 yr olds! ahh! thats what it feels like!

Ken helping Olivia eat her ice cream.

She doesn't need help--she stuffed her face!

Trying to act coy about opening her gift :)

OOh! A shopping cart!

She wasn't immediately interested in it...

But she did of course like the box...

too predictable!

Lucas tried it out too!

And he also got a Toy Story shirt even though his/dada's bday isnt until the 12th :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Can't believe it's already been a yr...will update with old pics of olivia soon :)
